B. US-PS Nr. 3, 874, 367 sowie DE-AS 2439218).

<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

The invention relates to a liquid and / or gas examination device, in the form of an injection syringe, preferably for examining blood or other liquid samples and / or gases, consisting of a vessel which is open on one side, the opening preferably being formed by a tube attachment on the vessel or by a detachable cannula is determined, as well as a piston with piston rod fitted into the vessel.
A large number of blood analyzers are known in the literature as well as in commerce (e.g. US Pat. No. 4, 127, 111). The liquids to be examined are usually injected into the analysis section of the devices and have to be washed out again after the analysis. The samples are transported to the device - usually even for a long time - after they have been removed from the test subject using a blood collection device. A variety of blood collection devices are also known (e.g. US Pat. Nos. 3, 874, 367 and DE-AS 2439218).
Due to the delay between sampling and analysis, various measurement parameters are exposed to a change - e.g. B. Influence of the temperature on the measured value amplitude, air gases equilibrate or diffuse into the measured material, etc. - which have to be recalculated by complex methods with measurement of additional parameters such as air humidity, air pressure, etc. in order to enable an absolute value to be given during the measurements.
From GB-OS 2025065 a blood analysis device has become known which consists of a hollow, cylindrical body in which a piston can be moved in close contact, one or more sensors being contained in the front part of the piston, which are sensitive to pH, p02, PCO2, PCI, pCa or pNO3 can address. In addition, the hollow cylinder has a neck-shaped constriction on one side, which is connected to a multi-way valve or is available for connection to such a valve. The sensors are made up of glass (capillaries) or wire-shaped electrodes that are miniaturized using thin glass capillaries and wires.
A disadvantage of this device is that when the liquid samples are sucked in, especially if the suction process is too rapid, the front of the piston is poorly or not at all wetted, which results in a considerable disturbance of the measurement. In addition, in the event that an additional liquid supply or removal has to be made, a reusable tap has to be fitted, this additional work step is overlooked before the sample is taken, so the sample taking becomes worthless.
Another disadvantage of the current devices is that they have to be cleaned again after each measuring step.
Advances in microtechnology make it possible to manufacture miniaturized sensors and / or encoders from semiconductors and / or thin-film structures, for example, with miniaturized measuring chambers (Austrian Patent No. 369254), which means that a large number of different sensors and / or encoders can be produced on a small scale Space can be accommodated, which do not influence each other through the chamber design and also allow simultaneous measurement of all desired parameters.
In the device (probe) according to the invention, the disadvantages are eliminated in that the vessel and / or the end opposite the suction-side end of the piston and / or the tube attachment and / or the piston rod and / or the cannula have at least one sensor and / or transmitter contain in thin-film form, sensors being preferably attached to the suction side of the piston in a manner known per se.
The essential, new effects are achieved in that the analysis can be carried out immediately in the cannula and / or the tube attachment and / or the vessel and is therefore not subject to the measurement falsifications mentioned. In addition, this saves a great deal of time, which can be life-saving for people, particularly in the event of an accident, and the examiner also receives the measured values directly at the blood collection site.
A decisive advantage is that the device can be manufactured so cheaply with the aid of modern microtechnology and casting technology that it can be carried out as a disposable device and does not need to be cleaned after use. With a suitable design of the vessel, preferably by supplementing it with additional containers and / or the preferably liquid

be those which allow a quick and exact calibration of the device immediately before the measurement or which contain the reaction components necessary for special parameter investigations.
In addition, for specific medical examinations, for example, the relevant parameters can be determined by a selected group of sensors and / or sensors that are suitably accommodated in the device according to the invention.
The invention is described in the following with reference to the figures: FIG. 1 shows schematically in cross-sectional representation a known embodiment of the liquid kit and / or gas analysis device, with --4-- in the piston, which is in a blood bleeding known per se.

End sensors --6-- and / or sensors --6-- are attached. After the blood or gas sample has been drawn in, the measured values can be read on the measuring and donor device --12--, to which the device can be connected by means of a connector --7-- in the piston rod --5--.
The attachment according to the invention of sensors 6 and / or sensors 6 has the particular advantage that they are well wetted. When measuring, however, it can also be advantageous that in the dynamic phase, ie. H. on at the sensors --6-- and / or
EMI2.2
this be led. However, sensors --6-- and / or sensors --6-- can also be connected directly to the measuring and sensor device --12-- using the electrically conductive connections --8--. The electrically conductive connections --8-- were schematically represented by a line in all FIGS. 1 to 4; in fact, depending on the sensor and / or encoder structure, several electrically conductive connections --8-- can lead from or to the sensor --6-- and / or encoder --6--.
2 schematically shows a cross-sectional representation of possible sensor and / or transmitter arrangements combined in one representation. It can be seen from this that the sensors --6 and / or transmitter --6-- as well as the electrical supply lines --8-- both in and / or on the inner wall and / or outer wall of the cannula --3-- and / or the tube attachment --2-- and / or the vessel --1-- and / or the piston rod --5-- and / or the piston --4--. The sensors --6-- and / or sensors --6-- can also be fitted on and / or in the intake-side and / or opposite side of the piston --4--.
The plug connections --7-- can be located in and / or on the cannula --3-- and / or the tube attachment --2- and / or the vessel --1-- and / or the piston --4 - and / or the piston rod --5--.
2 also shows the possible embodiment in which the piston --4-- and the piston rod --5-- are equipped with cavities --13--, which are connected to one another by a connecting channel --14-- are connected and can be preferably filled with cooling liquids and / or gases through the supply option --9--, for example to enable temperature stabilization.
FIG. 3 shows schematically in the cross-sectional representation that the tube attachment --2-- can also be made cannula-shaped and also shows an example of an embodiment of the
EMI2.3
on the piston --4-- and / or in and / or on the piston rod --5-- exist, for example, for calibration and / or the reaction liquids and / or calibration and / or reaction gases in the cannula-3- and / or to be able to direct the pipe attachment --2-- and / or the vessel --1-- and / or the piston --4-- and / or the piston rod --5--. The reaction and / or calibration materials are necessary for special blood constituent examinations and can be added at any time through the supply options; however, they can also be introduced into the chambers of the thin-film sensors --6-- and / or sensors --6--.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The particular advantage of the probe according to the invention is that the liquid and / or gas supply options --9-- are constructed in one with the vessel --1--, so that no additional attention is paid to these supply options --9-- must, which can be a decisive advantage, especially for patients in critical emergency situations that require quick action. Fig. 3 also shows a possible embodiment of the piston --4--, which also has the function of the piston rod --5-- here. Furthermore, the liquid- and / or gas-tight packaging (10) is also shown schematically in FIG. 3.
Fig. 3 also shows schematically the embodiment of the device according to the invention, in which the liquid and / or gas sample after removal from the environment through a liquid and / or gas-tight seal --16-- on --16-- on the pipe attachment - -2-- can be completed.
Fig. 4 shows schematically in cross section a possible embodiment of the inventive
EMI3.1
of the connecting channels --14--, liquids to be examined and / or gases can be mixed with calibration and / or reaction liquids and / or calibration and / or reaction gases as desired.
4 also schematically shows the direct, electrically conductive connection --8-- between the sensors --6- and / or sensors --6-- with the measuring and / or sensor devices --12--, whereby one can save the plugging operations during the examination process. Likewise, it is shown schematically in FIG. 4 that the cannula --3-- can be designed with a closure --16-- in order to be able to keep the liquid and / or gas samples separated from the environment after the withdrawal.
The main advantages of the device according to the invention, which are particularly suitable for blood u. a. Body fluid testing is good for that
1. by attaching the sensors --6-- and / or transmitter --6-- especially on the vessel --1-- and / or on the tube attachment --2-- and / or on the cannula --3-- experience good wetting through the sample medium and even enable dynamic measurements,
2. Mass production is possible, whereby cheap disposable measuring devices can be manufactured and
3.The compact design (e.g. vessel --1-- and liquid supply option --9 -in one) makes the use of the measuring device more reliable and easier.
The selection of sensors --6-- and / or sensors --6-- determines the type and number of parameters that can be examined. With a suitable selection of materials and manufacturing processes (e.g. sensors --6-- in thin-film chamber design and vessel --1-- as cast material, the device can be designed so inexpensively that it can be designed as a one-way version according to thrown away or subjected to a recycling process.
In addition, the user of the device according to the invention does not need to have calibration and / or reaction liquids and / or calibration and / or reaction gases available, since these, if they are not already in the chambers of the thin-film sensors --6-- and / or sensors --6 - are included, are prepared in the liquid and / or gas-tight packaging --10-- and / or in the cavities --13- and / or the additional containers --11-- and thus greatly expand the possible uses of the device according to the invention .
During the analysis process, make sure that at least one sensor --6-- and / or sensor --6-- is covered by the liquid and / or gas. If, for sensitive measurements, knowledge of the environmental parameters, e.g. Air pressure, humidity, room temperature etc., is necessary, this is done by integrating sensors --6-- and / or sensors --6- on and / or in the outside wall of the vessel -l- and / or the pipe attachment --2 - and / or the cannula --3-- and / or the piston --4-- and / or the piston rod --5--.
The possibility of being able to measure directly during the withdrawal process or by closing --16-- on the cannula --3-- and / or the tube attachment --2-- the liquid and / or gas samples in relation to the environment immediately after or However, being able to separate them during removal makes such additional measurements largely unnecessary.
