The invention relates to a table, in particular a desk, consisting of two prismatic units spaced apart from one another, which embody side parts of the table in an initial position and whose lateral distance is bridged by a central part.
The object of the invention is to structurally structure such a table, which is initially only suitable for use by one person, in such a way that it can be modified quickly and with little effort, in particular if necessary, for the purpose of simultaneous use by several people, it can be considerably enlarged.
According to the invention, this object is achieved in that, in the case of a table of the type mentioned at the outset, the units can be pivoted from a starting position by one of their mutually opposite vertical edges with respect to the central part into a pivoting position, in which they lie opposite one another with those flanks which together form the front of the table in the starting position.
By swiveling out the two side parts, an initially structured table is created, which is designed in such a way that additional parts of a table top can be easily added, so that the table can be used by several people at the same time. That being said, the structure of the table top may also facilitate the use of the table when viewing and sorting z. B. of documents.
After the pivoting of the two side parts, the table surface can be considerably enlarged by the fact that the side areas which are released on both sides of the central part when the two units are pivoted into the pivoting position can be covered, if necessary, by supplementary side parts. These additional side parts can be conveniently hinged to the edges of the units.
You can now, if desired, the table, for. B. for sorting, use in this way created U-shape or you can also cover the space between the opposite flanks of these units, if necessary, by means of a middle part after the pivoting of the two units into the pivoting position by these units, which then results in a table top is formed, the size of which is approximately twice the size of the table top in the starting position of the side parts. The table enlarged in this way can now easily be used by at least three people at the same time.
Another very important advantage of the subject matter of the invention is that the drawers of the units are accessible and usable both in their starting position and in their pivoting position. This advantage is further increased if the units are equipped with drawers that can optionally be pulled out in two mutually perpendicular directions in order to be able to pull out either in the starting position of the units or in their pivoting position either to the front or to the side.
For example, an outer drawer which can be pulled out in one direction can be provided, in which an inner drawer which can be pulled out in the other direction perpendicular thereto is slidably supported over an open side of the outer drawer.
Further features of the invention are explained below for the sake of clarity with reference to the drawings which illustrate an embodiment of the subject matter of the invention in different phases of the design of the table.
In detail, FIG. 1 shows a front view of the starting position, FIG. 2 — likewise in a front view — the pivoting position of the two units. 3 and 4 represent rear views and show the design of the table top by supplementing and enlarging it with additional table top parts in two phases.
The desk essentially consists of the two prismatic units --1 and 2--, which are spaced apart from one another and, in the starting position according to FIG. 1, embody side parts of the table, the lateral distance a of which is bridged by a central part --3--, which is supported on a rear wall --4--. Instead of a rear wall --4-- there can also be a pair of table legs that support the middle section --3--.
From this starting position according to FIG. 1, the units --1 and 2-- can be pivoted, if necessary, by one of their mutually opposite vertical edges --5-- in relation to the central part --3-into a pivoting position according to FIG in this swivel position with each other
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
NEN flanks -6- are opposite, which together formed the front of the desk in the starting position according to FIG. 1.
By pivoting the units --1, 2-- of the table into the pivoted position according to FIG. 2, free side areas 7- are initially created on both sides of the central part -3-, which, as shown in FIG. 3, can be enlarged to enlarge the table top can be covered by means of additional side parts-8. These supplementary side parts --8-- can be hinged to edges --9-- of the side parts --10-- delimiting these side regions --7--, which cover the upper sides of the units --1 and 2--.
After the pivoting of these units-1 and 2-- into the pivoting position according to FIG. 2, these units --1, 2-- delimited mean space -11-- between the opposing

Guide from its starting position, in which it connects to the central area of the rear wall --4-- of the central part -3-, is pushed forward over this by the pivoted-out units --1 and 2-limited central space --11--. In place of the rear starting position of this adjustable plate --3 '-, after it has been moved, an additional plate --12-- stored in preparation in the area of the rear wall -4-- of the middle part --3-- can be pulled up and down are introduced (Fig. 3, 4).

after he pushed it forward.
In its fully expanded state according to FIG. 4, the desk, the table top of which has been doubled due to the described expansion, can now be used by at least three people at the same time. One person can put their feet in the middle room --11-- to use the common table top, the other two people can put their feet in the

which can be pulled out if necessary in one or the other perpendicular direction of thrust.
Thanks to its versatile design, the table according to the invention is very versatile when it comes to increasing the work surface as needed, for example in children's rooms (with an increasing number of children), in offices (with temporary involvement of employees) or in the event of a lack of space (during the Performing temporary work).
