Radioaktive Masse und Einrichtung zur Benützung derselben.
EMI1.1

Radioactive material and facility for its use.
EMI1.1
radioactive substances and consists in the use of radioactive substances in a 'certain form, possibly in connection with a certain apparatus, as well as in a special process for the production of radioactive masses.
According to the invention, the radioactive substances are used in the form of masses in a solid aggregate state, which are made of inert, porous material permeable to emanations with radioactive d. H. consist of substance capable of producing emanations.
The inert solids containing the radioactive substance are porous substances permeable to emanations, such as. B. kieselguhr in lump form or in more or less fine distribution, into consideration, while the incorporated in these solids radioactive substance from both insoluble and soluble radium salts, such as. B. Radium barium carbonate respectively. Radium chloride or Radmmbromid or can consist of radium ores.
The production of such radioactive masses of high activity is expediently carried out by mixing the available radioactive substances (ores, insoluble or soluble radium salts) with inert porous substances permeable to emanations, preferably kieselguhr, and possibly pressing the mixture into the desired shapes or introduces such porous substances into cavities and closes the cavities in a suitable manner.
The radioactive solids according to the present invention are expediently stored within a shell impermeable to emanations, for example made of celluloid, hard rubber, often also metal and, for the purpose of expelling the emanations within the room to be enriched with it, exposed to an egg warming or a moist atmosphere, possibly in communication. The storage of the radioactive substance in a for emanations
EMI1.2
the radioactive substance is occasionally exposed to the influence of moist air or heat. In the following, a radioactive substance is generally to be understood as any substance which contains one of the radio elements (e.g. radium, thorium or actinium) or a compound of such.
The radioactive preparations according to the present invention are particularly useful for enrichment
