Zwei auf dem Arm c befestigte Federn k drücken auf die Backen d und halten diese jederzeit geschlossen.
Die Funktion ist nun folgende : Wird die Schnur angezogen, so gleitet der Klotz nach einwärts, überwindet die Federkraft und dreht die Backen um die Charniere soweit nach aussen, bis der Gegenstand erfasst werden kann ; lässt man dann die Schnur aus, so wird der Gleitklotz durch den auf die Backen ausgeübten Federdruck zurückgleiten, und der zu erfassende Gegenstand sitzt zwischen den Backen fest.
