Die angegebene Wirkung kann man auch dadurch erreichen, dass man auf dem Anker eine Wicklung mit verkürztem Schritt (Sehnenwicklung) vorsieht, wie sie von Mordey für Gleich- strommaschinen angegeben wurde, um die Wirkung der Ankergegenwindungen zu verringern.
Eine solche Wicklung ergibt bei Wechseistrommaschinen mit Ankererregung je nach der Verkürzung des Schrittes in der Nähe jeder Erregerbürste eine mehr oder weniger breite Zone, in welcher die einzelnen Ankerleiter von entgegengesetzten Strömen durchflossen sind, so, sie zur Magnetisierung nichts beitragen, die Feldverteilung wird daher wie erforderlich trapezförmig.
Eben solche Zonen würden sich natürlich gleichzeitig auch in der Nähe der Arbeitsbiirsten bilden und die Arbeitswicklung etwas weniger wirksam machen, jedoch gleichzeitig deren Streuung verringern.
Die hier beschiebenen Mittel können sowohl miteinander als mit den oben angegebenen Mitteln (Gestaltung des Luftspaltes und Anordnung der Ständernuten) vereinigt angewandt werden.

The specified effect can also be achieved by providing a winding with a shortened pitch (chord winding) on the armature, as specified by Mordey for DC machines, in order to reduce the effect of the armature counter windings.
In AC machines with armature excitation, such a winding results in a more or less wide zone in the vicinity of each exciter brush, depending on the shortening of the step, in which the individual armature conductors are traversed by opposite currents, so they do not contribute to magnetization, the field distribution is therefore as required trapezoidal.
Such zones would, of course, also be formed in the vicinity of the working bristles and would make the working winding somewhat less effective, but at the same time reduce its spread.
The means described here can be used in combination with one another or with the means indicated above (design of the air gap and arrangement of the stator grooves).
