Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

The invention relates to a composite body composed of at least one layer of foam plastic particles which are bound to one another by a hardened, preferably crosslinked plastic, and wherein the layer of foam plastic particles is firmly connected to at least one base layer, according to patent no. 354694.

The object of the invention is to develop the composite body described in the parent patent in such a way that it acts as a solar collector and can be attached to the outside of buildings, in particular on the solar radiation side.

The invention achieves this in that the composite body is designed as a plate and in that tubes for a heat transfer medium are embedded in the layer of foam plastic particles. The composite body designed according to the invention as a plate can be fitted as a cladding plate in place of an exterior plaster or lying on top of it in new buildings. The plate according to the invention can also be used in the renovation of old houses. In both cases, not only is a solar collector formed, but the building's thermal insulation is also improved.

Further features of the invention result from the claims and the following description of an embodiment shown in the drawing.

The drawing shows a section through a composite body designed as a plate --1--, which consists of a base layer --2-- and a layer --3-- made of foam plastic particles. The base layer --2-- can be made of wood, stone or glass wool, plastic, foamed plastics and in particular foamed polystyrene, as with the parent patent, as a plate. The layer --3-- lying on the base layer --2-- consists of foam plastic particles, e.g.
 EMI1.1
also serves to connect the layer --3-- with the base layer - 2--. A polyurethane foam, for example, has proven particularly useful as a binding plastic for the --3-- layer.

In the layer --3-- several parallel grooves --4-- are provided, in which pipes --5- made of a thermally conductive material, e.g. metal, are embedded. The grooves --4-- are open to the outer surface of the layer --3-- and covered by a cover layer --6-- made of a thermally conductive material, e.g. metal (aluminum, copper or the like). The arrangement is such that the pipes --5-- lie against the top layer --6-- from the inside, so that good heat conduction is guaranteed. To increase the thermal conductivity, the pipes can have a flattened outer surface with which they lie flat against the top layer --6--.

Alternatively, it is also conceivable to form the cover layer --6-- and the pipes --5-- in one piece, which ensures particularly good heat transfer between the cover layer and the pipes, so that the heat transfer circulating in the pipes --5-- - heating medium with low losses. Because the pipes are embedded in the self-insulating layer --3--, losses due to heat conduction or heat radiation are largely prevented.

Another layer can be on the side of the base layer --2-- opposite the layer --3--
