Process for the pre-cooling of the refrigeration means in compression refrigeration machines, which are used in the recovery of paraffin, stearin and the like.

In paraffin and stearin factories, compression cooling machines that work with ammonia, sulphurous acid or carbon dioxide are used to generate the cold. The cooling water temperature is important here, as it influences the power consumption and the performance of the cooling machines: the lower it is. the less power the machine needs and the better its efficiency. In such cases there are not always sufficient quantities of cold well water, since the cooling water consumption of a petroleum refinery and paraffin factory is very significant anyway. The temperature of the well water is usually not below 8 C, and often even 10-150.

In such a factory, however, there are liquids available that can be used for cooling operations, namely those coming from the filter presses
 EMI1.1
this is done by passing the draining filter oils through a pre-cooler, which is connected between the condenser and the regulating valve of the cooling machine, before they are sent to further processing. This cooler can also be switched on between the compressor and the condenser, or both arrangements can be combined, the latter when filter oils differ from one another in the factory.
 EMI1.2
Compressor and condenser for pre-cooling, use the cooler between the condenser and regulating valve for post-cooling.

A significant economic effect can be achieved with this, since the cooling machine returns part of the work it has done.
 EMI1.3
Conducting coils while the gases to be compressed circulate them.
