Process for the production of panels from asbestos.

Several attempts have already been made and processes have also been described to produce plates and other objects by mixing asbestos and sand or the like with water glass, pressing and drying, but none of these manufacturing methods has resulted in a product which in practice turns out to be would have proven really useful. According to the present invention, on the other hand, expensive and acid-resistant panels are produced which, despite their low thickness, are fire-proof. are acid-proof, insulating and soundproof.

British patent specification No. 3684 of 1873 explains a process by which a product can be manufactured which is suitable for the manufacture of various machine parts and for building purposes and which is also acid and fire resistant. In this process, asbestos is either finely ground or long and strong asbestos fibers with various

PATENT CLAIM: Process for the production of panels from asbestos with the addition of water glass and a EMI2.2 The non-fibrous crust is finely ground, mixed with water glass and, after drying, finely ground again, whereupon the mass obtained by mixing the powder produced in this way with fibrous asbestos and diluted water glass is pressed into shapes in a known manner, dried and fired.
