Elektrischer Ofen.

Electric oven.
The present invention relates to an electric furnace, which can be referred to as a furnace with a three-wire system, whereby the line losses can be reduced, on the one hand by using two or more arcs or hearths that are connected in series, and on the other hand by using for each arc respectively every hearth an independent security for the maintenance and the regulation is brought about.
The present furnace has electrodes with opposite polarity for the supply and discharge of the current, but with the difference that the bottom of the furnace or the dividing bath itself forms part of the circuit and is connected by a line to a suitable point on the main circuit . This line is usually not traversed by the current, since its task is only to bring about a compensation in the event of an uneven intensity of the arcs or light sources or to conduct the entire amount of current as soon as one or the other arc breaks.
The accompanying drawing shows an embodiment of an electric furnace according to
EMI1.1
The intensity of the arc can be regulated in a corresponding manner by changing the distance between the electrode and the bottom of the furnace or the surface of the conductive bath D.

of the furnace is connected to the junction of the two circuits and the movable electrodes to the two outer pole ends. are connected. However, two generators coupled to one another can also be used in accordance with the principle described.
The operation is regulated by adjusting the electrodes according to the pointer position of the ammeter H and I, which are respectively in the two outer conductors J. K switched on
EMI2.2
the two outer conductors J and K also have a voltmer L switched on, which indicates the total voltage between them.
If, instead of two movable electrodes, three are used, the furnace can advantageously also work with three-phase current. In this case, the three circuits of the generator or transformer are designed in a star shape and the neutral point of the star connection is connected to the bottom of the furnace.
Compared to the previously known systems of electric ovens, the present oven has the following advantages: 1. Compared to ovens with only one arc or several parallel arcs: a) a significant reduction in the system costs for the line, since for the two arcs instead of two return lines only there is one; b) a reduction in losses due to resistance in the line, since a double arc is applied
EMI2.3
flow a reduction in the self-induction effect due to the fact that the lines can be very close to each other over their entire length and laid concentrically to each other. up to the immediate vicinity of the electrode. 2.
Opposite ovens with two in a row

fat) harmful effects on the generators as a result of the interruption of an electric arc, especially if the generators are mechanically coupled; b) the possibility of replacing the electrodes one by one without interrupting operation: c) the possibility. to change the current strength of the arcs as desired and, depending on requirements, the total amount or part of the current through only one of the electrodes and the molten mass
