<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

The invention relates to a trip wire for igniting a pyrotechnic charge, a shot or the like ..
Trip wires are laid out in the field and, when touched and thus tensioned, for example by enemy troops, cause mines or other weapons to be detonated so that they cover the area in which the trip wire is laid.
The laying of trip wires is usually done by attaching one end of the trip wire in the field, for example on a branch or a stone, and the like. U. on a peg that is driven into the ground, and then by laying out the trip wire in the desired manner and finally mounting the other end of the trip wire on an ignition device. The ignition device can be attached directly to the mine or at a distance therefrom, in which case it is connected to the mine by means of a corresponding triggering device which is variously known in the prior art.
The term "trip wire" has long been introduced, and the specialist in the field of military technology and especially mines knows that in most cases it is not a wire, but rather a thin, optically unobtrusive and very tear-resistant plastic line or Cord that is not so tightly guided or taut that it causes a person to stumble, but that, on the contrary, extremely low tensile forces, which already arise from more intensive contact with the trip wire, are sufficient for ignition. It can be tensile forces as small as 3 N, corresponding to the weight of a mass of only 30 dag.
Laying the trip wire in the field, which in most cases is done for defensive purposes, for example

To protect a night camp from surprise attacks is not only time consuming, but especially dangerous in enemy fire or treacherous due to enemy observation. In addition, there is the laborious fastening of the wire end to a solid object, which is not a pleasant activity under the circumstances described.
The invention aims to create a trip wire that does not have the disadvantages mentioned and, according to the invention, proposes that the trip wire be accommodated in a sleeve into which an end piece is inserted or placed, and that one end of the trip wire is connected to the end piece and that the end piece, preferably on its side facing the sleeve interior, is provided with a weight.
After the end piece has been removed, this makes it possible to throw it together with the attached end of the trip wire in the desired direction by throwing, the weight associated with the end piece making it possible to carry out such a throw. When throwing, the trip wire is pulled out of the sleeve and cut after the throw at a suitable place and connected to the ignition device. Due to the weight that is located at one end of the trip wire, a further anchoring of the wire end is not necessary with the low triggering forces, so that the trip wire can be laid out quickly and even in the most unfavorable conditions and without any additional risk to the operator.
The invention is explained in more detail in the accompanying drawing, which consists of a single figure: in a sleeve 1, a trip wire 2 is wound on a coil 6. The coil 6 is preferably connected to the sleeve 1 by means of a screw 5. The is preferred
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Trip wire 2 with its innermost turn firmly connected to the coil 6 so that it cannot be lost.
The other end of the trip wire 2, located on the outermost winding of the coil, is guided to an end piece 9, which is inserted into the sleeve at the end remote from the coil. For this purpose, the end piece 9 has angled resilient arms which bear against the inner wall of the sleeve and hold by friction. A weight 3, which determines the throwing properties of the end piece, is connected to the end piece 9 by means of a screw 8 and a nut 7.
In order to make it easier to pull the end piece out of the sleeve 1, a band 4 is provided which, when folded, does not take up any noticeable space.
After the end piece 9 is pulled out of the sleeve 1 by means of the pulled-out band 4, it is, usually on the weight 3, in the. Thrown hand and thrown in the desired direction, while the sleeve 1 is taken with the other end of the trip wire in the other hand. During throwing, the end piece pulls the trip wire 2 from the coil 6 due to its kinetic energy and exposes it when the floor falls. The resilient arms of the end piece 9 spread outwards and act like the arms of an anchor, whereby the trip wire is fixed in the field.
The user can then bring the sleeve 1 directly to the ignition device, bring out the additionally required length of the trip wire, cut it at the desired location and connect it to the ignition device in a suitable manner.
The invention is not limited to the exemplary embodiment shown, but can be varied
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
be modified. So it is possible to design the end piece to be screwed on or in to the sleeve or to connect it to the sleeve 1 by means of a bayonet connection; the trip wire 2 can be inserted directly into the sleeve 1 instead of being wound on the coil 6 the other end is to be connected (glued) to the sleeve in a suitable manner and the weight can have a different shape and be connected in another way to the end piece.
The materials of the individual constituents are easy for the person skilled in the art to choose on the basis of the knowledge of the invention and the intended area of use, preference is given to frost-resistant and UV-resistant plastics and, depending on the foreseeable storage conditions, normal steel or stainless steel for the weight. For special conditions, it is also possible to manufacture the weight from lead.
