Hydroxyds are precipitated and calcium is precipitated as calcium carbonate by supplying carbon dioxide, the carbon dioxide being recovered in a lime kiln in the plant if necessary.
A neutralization zone --2--, in which hydrochloric acid is added, and at least one treatment zone --3-- for reverse osmosis are connected to zone --1-- in order to concentrate the solution to those values which are necessary for recycling the same (via a line into the regeneration zone for the resins (not shown). The regeneration solution is replenished through a line --5--. At the same time, highly pure water is obtained and drawn off through a line --6--.
In the following, non-limiting example, the method according to the invention is explained further.
At pie I: 1 m3 of wastewater from the regeneration of calcium-binding resins contained 53.8 kg sodium chloride, 9.42 kg calcium chloride and 2.2 kg magnesium chloride. The treatment was carried out in such a way that the pH value was adjusted with sodium hydroxide in such a way that magnesium hydroxide was precipitated (by adding 8.8 kg of sodium hydroxide), and by adding carbon dioxide (about 4 kg, calculated as the chum of the lime present in the sewage) precipitate as calcium carbonate.
After this treatment and filtration, a waste water was obtained which, in addition to soluble magnesium hydroxide and calcium carbonate, contained 53.8 kg of table salt which was originally present and 13 kg of further table salt which originated from the neutralization of the sodium hydroxide used with hydrochloric acid.
This saline solution was then concentrated by osmosis, whereby a solution with a specific weight of about 120 to 130 kg / m3 was obtained, which could be recycled directly into the regeneration zone of the resins.
