<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

The invention relates to a sound camera with a stop device controlled by a trigger, which mechanically intercepts a camera shutter in a defined position in an operating position, further with a capstan for driving a film, to which capstan is assigned a pressure roller, which in a first position the film pressed against the capstan and is lifted off the capstan in a second position, preferably against the action of a spring.
When a sound camera is put into operation, it is essential that, at the same time as the gripper is transported in the area of a film window, a drive device for the film is activated in the area of a sound recording device assigned to the sound track on the film. This drive device primarily serves to convert the jerky movements in the film by the gripper in the area of the sound recording device into a uniform movement. This drive device is generally formed by a driven capstan coupled to a flywheel and a friction roller pressing the film against the capstan. When the sound camera is switched off, the friction roller is held in a position raised from the capstan in order to be able to thread the film out or in and also to prevent the elastic friction roller from being deformed by the pressure applied to the capstan.
In this position, the friction roller or a carrier for the friction roller is loaded by a spring, but at the same time is also mechanically locked. During the activation of the sound drive device mentioned at the beginning, the locking of the friction roller is released so that it swivels on the sound shaft under the action of the spring.
In previously known sound cameras, the carrier for the friction roller is coupled directly to the shutter release. When the camera operator activates the trigger, the pressure roller is pivoted to the capstan, when the trigger is released, a lever coupled to the trigger returns the pressure roller to the position raised from the capstan. Since a switch for the gripper motor is actuated with the trigger, it is possible with this type of control that the two drive devices, namely the gripper and capstan, are not switched on or off completely at the same time. This danger arises especially when the camera operator reluctantly presses the shutter release due to hesitation.
There is the disadvantage, especially when the camera is switched off, that the gripper drive has already been stopped, but the sound drive continues to convey the film for one or two frame lengths. Either the images switched to the image window are then unexposed or the film perforation tears out. In any case, the loop between the two drive devices is lost and the sound becomes asynchronous to the picture.
In order to avoid the above-mentioned disadvantages, it is proposed according to the invention that, in a sound camera of the type mentioned at the beginning, an adjusting device is provided that switches the pressure roller to its second position, possibly formed by the stop device itself, and that the stop device or a part thereof has a smaller mass in terms of amount than the braking force which determines the braking torque when the camera shutter is intercepted and that the stop device or the part can be moved by the braking torque and thereby activates the actuating device. Since the locking shaft is coupled directly to the gripper drive, the device according to the invention has the advantage that the sound drive device is really only switched off when the lock is stopped and the gripper drive is therefore also out of operation.
Since it is sufficient to lift the pressure roller only a few tenths of a millimeter from the capstan in order to interrupt the sound drive, the torque to be destroyed when the shutter is braked can be effectively and advantageously exploited by appropriate leverage. A structurally particularly simple embodiment of the invention results when a first stop surface is provided on the lock or on a part coupled to the lock, to which a second stop surface is assigned, on the part of the stop device that has at least two switch positions controllable by the trigger In a first position of the lever, the second stop surface releases the lock for the drive,
in a second position, however, the second stop surface is switched into the path of the first stop surface and the part can be coupled to the actuating device for the pressure roller.
The pressure roller switched by the device according to the invention into the position raised from the capstan must be swiveled quickly onto the driven capstan when the camera is switched on, as mentioned at the beginning. If the gripper has already started its transport, but the pressure roller has not yet swiveled onto the capstan, the film loop is enlarged. The button, which senses the size of the loop, regulates the gripper transport to a slower speed.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
until the loop has leveled off to its normal size. Due to the slower gripper transport, however, the first scenes are overexposed. To avoid this disadvantage, it is necessary to switch on the gripper mechanism and the sound drive at the same time.
According to a further development of the invention, it is therefore proposed that a catch is provided for the actuating device holding the pressure roller in the second position lifted from the capstan, and that the catch can be released by an unlocking device actuated by the driven lock. A particular advantage results if a device for releasing the unlocking device is provided during the switching phase of the second drive device.
Further advantages and features of the invention emerge from the description of the exemplary embodiments shown schematically in the drawings. Fig. 1 shows schematically a sound camera in which a device according to the invention can be used. FIGS. 2 and 3 each show an exemplary embodiment of the invention.
A sound camera labeled -l in Fig. 1 has a gripper mechanism --2-- and a capstan --3-- for the film drive. A shutter 4 is coupled to the drive of the gripper mechanism in order to cover the object light falling from a lens --5-- on a film --7-- stored in a cassette --6-- during the transport phase of the gripper. To bring the film --7-- into contact with the capstan --3--, a pressure roller --8-- is provided.
Fig. 2 shows an embodiment according to the invention. The shutter-4-is fixed on a drive shaft --9-- coupled to a drive motor (not shown). On the shaft --9-, via which the gripper --2-- is also driven, a disk --10-- is also attached, which carries a stop --11--. In the orbit of this stop --11-- a nose --12-- of a lever --13-- protrudes, which is pivotable about a fixed axis --14--. At the end opposite the nose --12-- the lever has a slot --15-- in which a pin --17-- connected to a trigger --16-- is guided.
Furthermore, a pin --18-- is mounted on this end of the lever --13--, on which an extension --19-- of a carrier --20-- for the pressure roller --8-- is supported. A spring --21-- loads the carrier --20-- and the pressure roller --8-- in the direction of the capstan --3--.
The mode of operation of this device is as follows: As soon as the trigger --16-- is actuated, a switch controlled by the trigger, not shown in detail, closes the circuit for a drive motor for the shaft --9--. A drive motor provided for the capstan --3-- could, for example, have already been put into operation with a main switch, or it could also be switched on by the trigger --16-- When the trigger --16-- is actuated, the pin --17-- pivots the lever --13-- counterclockwise, whereby the nose --12-- is switched out of the path of the stop --11-- (thereby the locking shaft is released for rotation) and the pin --18-- over the extension
EMI2.1
attracts.
A further lug --22-- provided on the lever --13-- is pivoted out of the area of a fixed stop --23-- by turning it counterclockwise, a spring --24-- engaging the lever - brings the lever in an ineffective position related to the stopping of the locking shaft. The simultaneous release of the two drives --2, 3 - for the film --7 - does not result in any shift in the aforementioned image-sound interval.
When the trigger --16-- is released, the lever --13-- is swiveled clockwise, whereby the above-described switch for the shutter drive --9-- is also opened for the capstan drive, if necessary. The lever is pivoted clockwise by the pin --17--, whereby on the one hand the nose --12-- gets into the path of the stop --11-- and the pin --18-- gets over the extension. As soon as the stop --11-- of the expiring disc --10-- hits the nose --12-, the lever --13-- moves along its guide slots and lifts over the pin - 18-- and carrier - 20-- remove the pressure roller --8-- from the capstan --3--. The film --7-- can no longer be funded by the capstan.
During the return movement of the lever --13-- the "light" springs --21 and 24-- were tensioned, the lever --13-- latched at the end of the movement via the nose - -22--.
Another embodiment of the invention is shown in FIGS. 3A to 3C, parts with the same function being provided with the same reference numerals as in the device according to FIG. An improvement over the device from Fig. 2 is made in that the point in time of the pivoting of the pressure roller --8 - on the capstan 3 - is specifically determined. On the closure

Holds the carrier --20-- against the force of the spring --21-- in the position in which the pressure roller lifts off the capstan --3.
When the trigger --16-- is actuated, a switch --35-- is closed, which has a drive motor --36-- for the locking shaft -9- and for the gripper drive and a drive motor
EMI3.2
--3-- pivoted, the nose --12-- releases the locking shaft --9-- for rotation. The cam --30-- sitting on the locking shaft --9-- has a cam hill over the angular range, over which the gripper transport step also takes place.
The lever --33-- is swiveled clockwise through the cam mountain, thereby releasing the carrier --20--. As soon as the gripper advances the first image, the pressure roller --8-- presses the film --7-- against the driven capstan --3--, the film transport is started without delay in the area of a magnetic head --38--.
At the end of operation, the trigger switches the lever --13-- or its nose into the path of the stop --11-- (switch --35-- is open again) and the lever --13-- is activated by the Braking torque shifted until it is latched by lever --33--. In this position the pressure roller --8- is lifted off the capstan --3-- again.
So that the lever --33-- or the button --31-- is not continuously engaged with the cam -30- while the camera is in operation, which would result in unnecessary noise development, possibly even an unnecessary motor load, the lever - 20-- provided with bevel --39-- (see p.
Fig. 3B, 3C) which, after the lever --20-- has been unlatched, swings the lever --33-- under the action of the spring --21-- until the button --31-- does not closer to the cam --30--. As soon as the carrier --20-- is switched back to the position shown in Fig. 3A and latched, the button - 31-- rests on the cam --30-- again to release the carrier --20-- according to the program.
EMI3.3
being controlled.
The invention is not restricted to the exemplary embodiments shown in the drawings. Instead of the cam --30-- to control the unlocking of the pressure roller carrier, an eccentric can also be used, for example. The triggering moment does not necessarily have to be taken from the locking shaft, control by a part driven by the gripper motor --36 would be entirely possible.
