In this case, however, the metal insert is not held in place by the base surface, but only by the so-called chunk that forms between the edge a of the top cap (Fig. 7) and the bottom cap when printing into the pliers. This chunk is designated by b in FIG. 8.

The separation of the glass from the metal can be done mechanically by grinding off the aforementioned chunks, since the metal has not melted into the glass during printing, but is still so loosely attached that it falls off or is easily pulled away when the supporting chunks shrink can.

In FIG. 9, the stone is shown after the chunks have been abraded and in FIG. 10 the finished stone is shown after the metal part has been removed.

The raw print obtained in the manner described above can be completed by further grinding, etching, painting, etc., in the usual manner for commercial use.

It is known to produce conical, undercut holes in glass bodies by pressing in a conical metal capsule, which is etched out using a suitable liquid after the object has cooled down.

Claims (1)

PATENT CLAIM: Method of making cameos and the like Like. By pressing glass, characterized in that the undercut parts of the glass object are formed by metal inserts placed in the mold, which combine with the glass object during pressing and are then removed from the same chemically or mechanically.
