The invention relates to a stoving lacquer, in particular a deep-drawable can or tube interior lacquer, consisting of a binder system and at least one solvent and conventional additives or
Auxiliaries, the binder system consisting of a phenolic resin, an epoxy resin and / or a
Polyester is made.
Common additives and auxiliaries include, for example, drying agents, anti-skinning agents,
Leveling agents, glossing agents, anti-sedimentation or suspension agents, thickening agents, anti-floating agents, matting agents, pigments and extender pigments or fillers, which are used in suitable amounts if necessary.
The object of the invention is to provide an increased stoving varnish of the type mentioned above
To achieve adhesion on substrates in particular made of non-ferrous metal. According to the invention, this object is achieved in that the stoving enamel of the type mentioned at the beginning has a content of 0.2 to 7.0% by weight
Has malonic acid based on the total amount of paint. The paint preferably contains 0.5 to 4.0% by weight
Malonic acid.
The addition of malonic acid according to the invention to stoving enamels of the type mentioned at the outset has the further advantages that in the case of protective lacquers on the inside of the packaging, an increased resistance of the lacquer layer to aggressive filling goods is achieved and that in the case of foil lacquering even on a hard aluminum foil
Water resistance is achieved, which is otherwise best obtained on a soft aluminum foil.
From the German Auslegeschrift 1210115 a paint with a binder is known, which consists of a
Copolymers based on methyl and / or ethyl methacrylate and with
Drying temperatures of about 1490C gives a good adhesive strength, but its adhesive strength at
Drying at low drying temperatures, e.g. B. at room temperature to 82 C, is insufficient. The task of the German Auslegeschrift is accordingly to increase the adhesive strength of the copolymers if they are
Temperatures between room temperature and 820C are dried, the solution to this problem in
Addition of small amounts of different acids consists.
Be after the only example with malonic acid
0.4 parts of malonic acid are added to 265 parts of the solution of the copolymer, d. H. only about 0.15% based on the paint. This amount is therefore outside that according to the invention for baking enamels based on others
Binding agent effective area.
The invention is illustrated below by means of examples. The parts and percentages given always mean parts by weight or percentages by weight.
Example 1: A deep-drawable gold lacquer (protective lacquer on the inside of cans) is achieved by careful
Mixing of 30 parts of a non-plasticized, thermosetting, etherified phenolic resin, which is 70% zig in
Xylene is dissolved, 40 parts of an epoxy resin with an epoxy equivalent weight of 450 to 500, a
Epoxy value of 0, 20 to 0, 225 and a hydroxyl value of 0, 32, 29 parts of ethyl glycol and 1 part of malonic acid (technically pure or analytically pure). This lacquer is applied to tinplate with a wet film thickness of about 12 μm and baked at 200 ° C. for 15 minutes. The paint film obtained is characterized by above-average adhesion. The sterilization values with 5% acetic acid are optimal.
If this lacquer is now applied to aluminum sheet for tin cans under the same conditions in terms of layer thickness and baking, it becomes apparent that the lacquer film detachment after sterilization with acetic acid, lactic acid and sodium chloride is much less than if the same lacquer is used without malonic acid.
The presence of malonic acid does not cause the deep-drawing properties of the paint film to deteriorate.
Example 2: A gold lacquer is made by carefully mixing 10 parts of a higher molecular weight polyester of the alkyd resin type, made from adipic acid with ethylene glycol, with functional hydroxyl groups, with weakly branched molecular chains and a hydroxyl content of about 1.8%, 35 parts of the phenolic resin mentioned in Example 1 Art, 53.5 parts of ethyl glycol and 1.5 parts of malonic acid. A gold lacquer of this type, after being applied and stoved as in Example 1, shows a significant increase in the marbling resistance to meat and fish compared to the same lacquer without malonic acid.
Example 3: A can varnish is produced by carefully mixing 50 parts of a water-soluble commercial polyester-phenolic resin mixture, 47 parts of water and 3 parts of malonic acid. If this lacquer is applied and baked in as in Example 1, a sterilization-resistant lacquer film is obtained which would have been detached from the carrier material without the presence of malonic acid.
