The invention relates to headphones with a substantially cylindrical housing for holding the transducer, the earpiece, the headband and, if necessary, a microphone carrier.
Such known headphones are practically invariable in their construction; This means that the user of the same has to commit to a specific embodiment when purchasing such a handset. If it turns out during use that, for example, a receiver with a differently shaped receiver shell would have been more appropriate, the wishes of the user can rarely be taken into account, and even then not always completely.
In addition, the wishes of buyers are so diverse that the manufacturers of headphones are usually forced to carry a larger number of types, which is to be regarded as a disadvantage with regard to efficient production. A restriction to a few types is out of the question for commercial considerations and sales practice also shows that you cannot clearly specify certain types.
So it shows z. For example, headphones with hard plastic shells that are easy to clean are preferred as headphones for professional use, for example for interpreters and participants in congresses.
For private use, however, headphones with soft cushions, mostly made of foam, are generally preferred to those with hard ear cups, since the hygienic problem does not play such a significant role here.
For home listeners, which should be as inexpensive as possible, head brackets made of plastic are advantageously used, whereas wire brackets are usually used for a receiver that is also supposed to meet professional requirements, because of the greater strength and lower weight.
The aim of the invention is to create a headphone which is composed of a few easily interchangeable parts, the core of which is a housing common to all types and to which the required additions for a specific type can be added as required Only a few steps are required for the assembly or conversion of one type into another. By using a housing that is suitable for all types, tool costs can be saved and the bearing holder is also simplified. Based on the invention, it is possible to plan at short notice if a customer wants a certain receiver model.
The above-mentioned advantages of the invention can be achieved in a headphone described at the outset in that on the one hand the housing jacket carries part of a quick connection at one end, e.g. B. a bayonet connection, a snap device, a short coarse thread od.
Like., And at the other end two opposite, the passage of the earpiece permitting recesses, in the clear cross section in the interior of the housing protrudes a resilient tongue as part of the housing, and that the housing is closed at this end with a plate on the If necessary, a microphone support can be fastened with a bracket that at least partially encompasses the plate or groove, and that on the other hand ear cups of different shapes, sizes and properties are provided, which can optionally be placed on one end of the earphone housing by means of the quick connection, and that the housing with or is used without ear cup in a molded body made of foam.
According to a further feature of the invention, the housing jacket has at least one open slot at the end at which the one part of the quick connection is provided, which slot or slits serve that when the earpiece is placed on the housing, the latter yields resiliently, so that the Converter housing, d. H. the transducer capsule, is clamped in the housing. In order to achieve this clamping effect safely, the upper edge of the receiver housing, i. i. the one in the vicinity of which part of the quick connection is provided with a conical extension which interacts with a corresponding surface on the plastic shell to be placed.
In the event that no hard plastic shell is put on, but the housing only remains embedded in a molded body made of foam and to hold the transducer during assembly, projections are provided in the receiver housing near the edge delimiting the opening, which prevent the transducer capsule from falling out prevent or a clamping ring is used.
According to the invention, the slot or slots in the housing jacket described above are longer than is necessary to fix the transducer capsule when the earpiece is attached. The sections of the slots lying outside the area of the quick connection are allowed to open into the cable entry serving approaches.
To fix the cable in the slots, elastic clamping parts with lateral ribs can be provided and the clamping parts also have a locking edge on which the free edge of a possibly attached hard ear cup or ring is supported when installed. The cable can have a corresponding grommet or, if it is stable enough, it can be clamped directly.
Further details of the invention can be taken from the following description with reference to the drawings, in which FIG. 1 shows a perspective view of the receiver housing according to the invention, FIG. 2 shows a cross section through a receiver according to the invention, FIG. 3 shows a detail of the bracket guide and FIGS. 4 and 5 finally show the side view of the earpiece according to the invention when it is combined with a microphone.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
As FIG. 1 shows, the most essential component of the headphones according to the invention, namely the housing, is constructed as an approximately cylindrical, tubular body which is closed at one end with a plate --1--. This can easily protrude or form a groove --37-- against the body. The housing jacket is designated - 29 - and has a cavity - 5 - into which the transducer capsule --30-- can be inserted. A step - 10 - inside the housing shell --29-- serves as a support for the transducer capsule - 30-- (Fig. 2). The housing jacket -29- has an inclined, conical surface -12- at the upper end of its jacket surface, the purpose of which will be explained later. Below the
EMI2.1
the end position of the ear cup-13--.
As can be seen from FIG. 1, the housing jacket -29-has two diametrically opposite slots -14-parallel to the axis -C-which have a multiple function. One of these is to make the upper section of the housing jacket - 29 - elastically deformable, so that when the hard ear cup - 13 - which exerts a concentric pressure on the surface - 12 - is put on, the inner cross section of the housing jacket -29- is narrowed so that the position of the capsule -30- remains clearly fixed.
The slots - 14 - also have the task of inserting the handset cable

--6-- at axis - A - introduced. It has a curved surface --16 - on its upper edge, which serves as a locking edge for the attached plastic part - 13 -.
The hard shell - 13 - presses the cable tight via the clamping part - 15 -, a corresponding grommet or directly. If no shell - 13 - is used, i.e. if the receiver is equipped with foam pads

-25 -, trap, the retaining lugs - 17 - are important.
On the inside of the housing shell-29-a step --4 - is provided in the immediate vicinity of the upper edge, which together with the inserted converter capsule - 30 - results in a groove in which a sealing compound, e.g. B. wax, can be filled.
EMI2.4
Should prevent the converter from falling out - 30.
The housing jacket -29- also has two diametrically opposite recesses -8, 8'-at the end at which it is closed with the plate -l- through which the bracket -9-, in Fig. 2 assumed as a plastic bracket, in the direction of the axis - B - passes through. To clamp the bracket - 9 - a resilient tongue - 7 - is provided inside the housing jacket - 29 - which is designed as part of the housing. So that the receiver cannot be accidentally removed from the bracket --9--, it is provided with locking lugs - 18 - at its free ends.
Compared to the plastic bracket, wire brackets are significantly thinner and the spring deflection of the tongue --7-- would not be able to produce the necessary friction between bracket and base plate - l--. As a result, an insert --22 - is provided according to the invention, which can be made of both hard and elastic material and is to be placed on the inside of the base plate - 1 - (Fig. 3).
To protect against rotation, the insert - 22 -, which is designed as a guide part for a wire or sheet metal bracket, is provided on its surface facing the base plate - 1 - with a projection - 20 - which is inserted into a corresponding Well - 19 - on the inside of the plate - l--

3Emolding - 24 - made of plastic, which serves the same purpose as the nose - 18 - on the plastic bracket - 9--.

used - and both the shell and the housing of the headphones enclosing foam body - 25 - to provide. The combination of both measures according to the invention results, on the one hand, in an optically more compact shape of the earpiece with a harder support on the ear, which is often desired, at the same time.
Finally, FIG. 4 shows how the headphones according to the invention can be equipped with a microphone. The device for doing this is very simple. It consists of a mounting element - -31--, which has resilient lugs or a flange -36-- acting in the same way, which encompasses or engages around the protruding edge of the plate - l -, with the lugs in a metallic

are to be applied. In order to be able to bring the microphone --35-- into the desired position, the microphone boom - 34 - ends in the interior of the mounting element in a ball - 33-- which rests against the brake disc --32-- in the mounting element - -31- supported (ball joint with friction brake).
Fig. 5 shows the design of the housing-29-with groove-37- to which a microphone holder can also be clamped.
The assembly of the earphone according to the invention is very easy thanks to its construction
EMI3.2
is attached and optionally the clamping piece -15- is in the approach provided for the cable entry -6-, which has sawtooth-shaped, sharp-edged ribs -6 '-which are slightly conical downwards for secure clamping of the cable.
If the cable routing attachments --6,6 '- lying outside the housing jacket --29-- interfere with the appearance, they can also be laid inside, in the space - 5 - behind the capsule - 30.
If the soft foam body --25-- is to take the place of the hard ear cup --13--, then proceed as follows: First, the cable is pulled through the opening --27 '- of the foam body --25-- and at the axial blind hole of the same pulled out. Then the bare cable ends are soldered to the connections - 28 - on the converter capsule and inserted into the housing jacket --29-- from the front. The cable is then clamped in at the side, as described above for assembly with a hard plastic shell-13-, and the transducer capsule-30-is sealed by filling the annular groove - 4 -, for example with wax.
Then the foam shell - 25 - is slipped over the headphone housing and the plastic bracket --9 - through the recesses - 27, 27 'or. 8, 8 'of the housing jacket - 29 - pushed through. If a separate cable is not provided for each side of the headphones, but only attached to one side of the headphones and led over the bracket to the second system, then an extension part of the cable is only to be led out at the opening --27-- opposite the entry opening --27 ' and introduce its free end in an analogous manner into the interior of the second system.
As mentioned in the description of FIG. 3, the recess - 26 - can be missing and the receiver system can be inserted through the opening --27 '. In this case, the cable can be mounted on the capsule beforehand. This also makes it easier to exchange the shells and systems.
The space behind the capsule --30-- is well protected by the springy nose so that the cable routing and the soldering terminals cannot be damaged even if the bracket is improperly inserted.
For this purpose, the resilient tongue-7-is led so far to the opposite inside of the headphone housing that it is impossible to push in the bracket from the side. However, the gap remains so large that the recess --19-- can be made in the tool in the axial direction.
The underside --2-- of the plate --1-- can be used to record type designations, brands or other information of interest to the user.
