The invention relates to a flexible, one-piece support roller designed as a circular cylinder for a trough-shaped conveyor belt, which has depressions in its outer surface and is supported in lateral bearings by an axially extending flexible support member.
The object of the invention is to create a support roller for conveyor belts that is robust and wear-resistant, but is simple in terms of material and labor and is particularly suitable for the
Suitable for use with belt conveyors on which the conveyor belt is used to convey heavily contaminated goods.
Based on a support role of the above type, the essence of the invention is that the
Depressions of a part of the lateral surface are bounded by circular cylinders, the longitudinal axes of which run perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the support roller without intersecting this axis, and that the support member is designed as a link chain.
The flexible support roller according to the invention protects the conveyor belt against impact stresses caused by falling hard items to be conveyed, since it allows evasion in the loading direction in the conveyor belt. When the conveyor belt is constantly under load, it can deform in the most favorable way due to the flexibility of the support roller. The special design of the outer surface of the roller body causes constant cleaning of the conveyor belt and the roller body itself during operation. Therefore, the support roller according to the invention is particularly suitable for use in companies in which the conveyor belt is exposed to heavy pollution, e.g.
B. in the promotion of bauxite, which has a highly polluting effect especially in wet weather, also in construction, in coal and mineral mining and in ore processing plants.
Because of the simple and therefore cheap construction of the support roller according to the invention, it is also well suited for operations in which the contamination of the conveyor belt does not play a major role.
A preferred embodiment of the invention is characterized in that the recesses are arranged alternately offset by 900 in the longitudinal direction of the support roller. The cleaning effect on the conveyor belt and the support roller itself is then particularly favorable.
Preferably, the housing containing the bearing of the support roller lie loosely on support devices and are frictionally secured against rotation relative to the support devices.
According to a further development of the invention, in a support roller whose length is greater than the width of the conveyor belt, the outer surface of the roller being provided with single or multiple thread ribs, only the sections of the roller body protruding beyond the width of the conveyor belt are provided with thread ribs The outside diameter increases towards the end of the roll, but at the end facing away from the end of the roll it corresponds to the outside diameter of the rest of the roll body.
An embodiment of the invention is described below with reference to the drawing, in which a support roller arrangement is shown in side view with a view in or against the running direction of the conveyor belt.
In the drawing, -8-denotes a roller body which consists of soft rubber or plastic and inside which there is a round link chain -9- extending in the direction of the roller axis. The roller body --8 - is vulcanized, pressed or sprayed onto the round link chain - 9 -. The outer surface of the roller body - 8 - has depressions - 10 -. The recesses --10 - have the shape of part of the outer surface of a circular cylinder, the longitudinal axis of which runs perpendicular to the roller axis, but does not intersect it. In each case two recesses - 10 - are arranged opposite one another on the lateral surface of the roller body. The depressions are in the longitudinal direction of the roller body

The bearing housing --5-- is closed by a threaded cover - l -.
The bearing housing --5-- has on the side facing the roller body --8-- a conical or dome-shaped contact surface with which it is placed on a correspondingly shaped elastic, e.g. B. made of soft rubber pad - 6 - rests. Because of the one-sided load on the bearing housing - 5-- a one-sided support is sufficient. The elastic pad --6-- is attached to a roller block --11-- which carries the support roller.
The function of the support roller arrangement described above is as follows:
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Under the influence of the weight of the conveyor belt and, if applicable, of the goods to be transported on it, the flexible support roller takes on the shape of a chain or rope line, as shown in the drawing. Due to the moving conveyor belt, the support roller bent in this way is set in rotation and continuously bent in a different direction. In doing so, the depressions - 10 are deformed alternately in an opening and closing direction. The depressions - 10 - have a cleaning effect on the conveyor belt by wiping off contaminants from it. If the conveyor belt deviates laterally from its target position during the run, e.g. B. as a result of a deformation of the supporting conveyor belt frame, it runs with its edge area on one of the thread ribs - -12--. Since the thread rib in question - 12 - has a larger diameter than the rest of the roller body --8--, but the conveyor belt essentially rolls on the rest of the roller body --8--, the circumferential speed of the thread rib - 12 - is greater than the conveyor belt speed, and there is a slip between the conveyor belt and the thread rib - 12 -. With a suitable thread direction of the thread of the thread rib - 12 - (right or left thread depending on the direction of travel of the conveyor belt)
