Description

Arc lamp with an electrode supported on a stop.

The invention relates to such an arc lamp in which, in order to save a regulatory mechanism, the interconnected electrodes are supported with their tips on a stop which allows the electrodes to sink under their own weight as they burn down.
 EMI1.1
 Electrode supporting stop burns down.

This device consists in that, as the drawing shows Fig. 1 in longitudinal section, Fig. 2 in cross section, between the stop c supporting the electrode and the electrode a gap a is formed, which, represented as a longitudinal channel, creates a thin wall b whose lower edge of the electrode serves as a support edge.
 EMI1.2
kept away that although this wall can be consumed (charred) by the Ilitzo, the stop cannot be burned off by the so-called frater, since the latter can no longer cross over onto the supporting edge b due to the gap a.

The function of the lamp is therefore guaranteed. As is well known, this function is that, due to the co-burning or charring of the supporting edge d, the electrode on the horizontally lying fixed stop, progressively by its own weight according to its burning, presses downwards, whereby each regulating mechanism u. is saved. The second electrode expediently lies next to the first and is inevitably connected to it, so that it sinks with it, as is already known.

However, arc lamps without a regulating mechanism are already known in which the moving up of the electrodes is regulated by the gradual consumption of a supporting edge resting on a fixed stop, but with these lamps the supporting edge is prevented from burning too quickly by artificially dissipating the heat from the supporting edge .
 EMI1.3
 be filled.
