Side surface covering is used, the plastic preferably being made slippery on the surface by fluorination.
It was not to be expected that a particularly suitable damping material for a multi-layer ski, which at the same time also has a high level of sliding properties, would consist in the plastic containing about 5 to about 50, preferably about 10 to about 20% by weight of a polyolefin.
This polyolefin is embedded in the elastomeric plastic material, but sweats out at the processing temperatures, since it cannot be bound in the material, and therefore forms a surface that glides particularly well on the covering.
In addition, however, the damping material for the multilayer ski according to the invention has a completely surprising effect that has not yet been theoretically explained. For example, while a

the intended use is of particular importance, since the service life is thereby significantly increased.
When producing the multi-layer ski according to the invention using a material based on a polyurethane elastomer, it is proposed in a further embodiment that the polyolefin be added to the polyester or polyether required for the formation of the polyurethane and that the mixture is heated to 1200C, whereupon this continues to form the polyurethane necessary polyisocyanate is added with stirring, and that finally the shaping takes place in a manner known per se. This procedure facilitates the incorporation of the polyolefin into the polyurethane and improves the distribution, so that a surprising improvement in the sliding ability and in the abrasion can be achieved, with the multilayer ski at the same time having the desired vibration properties.
