From the gas generator a, the gas passes through a three-way straw b with the same position (Fig. 1) into a larger antechamber c, in which the heavier ascbene parts are to be separated from the gases, in order to pass through a vertical tube e in a water pot d to get the water located therein, while the gas passes from the pipe e opening above the water level into a pipe f and through this into the first cleaning chamber g. This chamber g contains coarse cleaning material, e.g. B. coarse coke, which i. is sprinkled. The gas enters chamber g at the bottom, leaves it again at A above and enters the following cleaning chamber j.

This is also with coarse cleaning material, such. B. coarse coke or better, sponge-like material filled. However, there is no sprinkling of water, rather the moisture it entrains is largely withdrawn from the gas in order to be absorbed by the filter material and further used for cooling. From the chamber the gas exits below at l into the following one
 EMI2.1
Size is filled and in which in turn takes place by a shower i sprinkling.

The gas flows through the chamber k from bottom to top and arrives here at m in the following cleaning chamber 11, which is filled with no irrigation and with medium-sized coke or sponge-like material. Here, the gas flows from top to bottom, releasing moisture and impurities, in order to then reach the cleaning chamber j) at o. This is filled with fine coke or other fine cleaning material, which in turn is sprinkled with a shower head. The gas flows through the chamber p again from bottom to top, releasing moisture.

As a result of the continuous absorption of moisture, the drying chambers j, 1i and p are gradually converted into wet chambers, u. without additional consumption of cooling water, the latter is rather used as completely as possible for cooling purposes in the cooling water chambers created in this way during operation. Finally, the gas enters a pre-drying chamber q filled with fine cleaning material (which may possibly be more absorbent), from which it then passes into the actual drying chamber r and from there into the Samuel chamber s.

The chambers with and without irrigation can also be arranged in multiple direct succession as required. The entire cleaner and cooler can form a single multi-chambered vessel with or without a dryer and collector, or the individual chambers can be arranged individually or in groups. The individual arrangement of the chambers grants the advantage of being able to remove and clean them individually, as well as to empty and refill them.

The new chamber arrangement of the cleaner also allows the cleaning and filling of individual chambers during operation by switching off the chamber to be cleaned by means of appropriately provided pipe barriers.
