Adjustment windings protect diodes. If several relays are activated at the same time during a setting process, the contacts in series ensure that the output signal is only given at the first of the activated contacts.
The inventive device of bistable two-winding relays has the advantage that no holding circuits are necessary for the relays, since the setting windings and the reset windings of the relays are only energized with pulses and remain in the position once assumed until the respective other winding of the relay is excited.
The exact function of the circuit is explained using examples.
EMI2.1
Contacts lying in series-si .... sn-any further changes to the setting windings-Ei .... Eji-remain unconsidered. The response speed is only dependent on the release time of the latching relay, u. between only one, since no other relay can respond after an interruption.
FIG. 2 shows a circuit variant in which the reset is actuated by a common reset winding - RS. In terms of effect, it is irrelevant whether this reset acts on the contacts via mechanical elements or causes a magnetic reversal that encompasses all relays.
The variant shown in Fig. 3 only uses normally open contacts with adhesive characteristics and is especially intended for use with "reed" relays ("Ferreed", "reed" with contact tongues made of permanent magnets that can be reversed, etc.). It is essential that the two setting windings of the relays - A and B - are jointly under the influence of the setting signal, regardless of whether they are connected in series (Fig. 3) or in parallel, or when resetting the two reset windings together under the influence of the Reset signal. An adjustment signal causes in common
EMI2.2
All circuits (Fig. 1 .... Fig. 3) are connected in series with the coils diodes in order to avoid coupling of the setting lines or to lock them off when the polarity of the input voltage changes.
