Process for the preparation of polyacyloxamidrazones
The subject of the parent patent is a process for the production of polyacyloxamidrazone with recurring units of the formula
EMI1.1
in which R is a straight-chain or branched, saturated or unsaturated aliphatic radical with 2 to 12 carbon atoms or a cycloaliphatic, araliphatic or aromatic radical and which units are used as plastics and are converted into poly-bis- (1. 2.
4-triÅazole) can be converted, wherein oxalic acid bisamidrazone in single-phase or two-phase solvent systems in the presence of acid acceptors with stirring and removal of the heat of reaction at temperatures from 0 to 1500C with one or more dicarboxylic acid halides of the general formula
EMI1.2
in which R has the above meaning and X represents chlorine or bromine, and the reaction product is isolated. Two-phase solvent systems that can be used include water and a water-mixed
EMI1.3
A suitable reaction medium of this type consists for example of tetrahydrofuran and water with an addition of soda leading to phase separation. Due to its basicity, the sodium carbonate also acts as an acid acceptor.
The polyacyloxamidrazones produced according to the process of the parent patent have reduced viscosities of 0.5 to 2.5 depending on the type of starting materials used (measured on a solution of 1 g polymer in 100 ml l of the above potassium hydroxide solution at 20 ° C.). They can be dissolved in dilute aqueous alkali hydroxide solutions and can be formed into threads by spinning in acidic baths.

It has not been found that polyacyloxamidrazone, in particular polyacyloxamidrazone, with higher viscosity is obtained if the reaction of oxalic acid bis-amidrazone and dicarboxylic acid dihalide, in particular terephthalic acid dihalide, is obtained in a mixture of water and peroxide-free
Tetrahydrofuran in a volume ratio of 3: 1 to 1: 3 with the addition of 3 to 15% by weight sodium chloride, based on the amount of water as salting out agent and alkali metal carbonate or bicarbonate as
Acid acceptor at temperatures from 0 to 600C. Preferably as salting out agents 5 to
10% by weight sodium chloride is used and sodium bicarbonate is used as the acid acceptor.
Essential for the achievement of polyacryloxamidrazones with higher viscosities is first of all
EMI2.1
The degree of purity is achieved by distilling tetrahydrofuran, which has been pretreated with solid potassium hydroxide over sodium borohydride or potassium permanganate.
For the good success of the process according to the invention, compliance with the stated proportions of tetrahydrofuran and water on the one hand and the salting out agent on the other hand is crucial. It is particularly advantageous if the reaction is carried out in a mixture of water and peroxide-free tetrahydrofuran in a volume ratio of 1: 1 to 2: 1 with the addition of
5 to 10% by weight of sodium chloride as salting out agent and sodium bicarbonate as acid acceptor.
The temperature during the transesterification should preferably be between 20 and 40uC.
The method is explained in detail by means of examples.
The tetrahydrofuran used in the following examples is purified by first treating it
Shake for 3 h with solid potassium hydroxide solution and then distilled over sodium borohydride. It's after this
Treatment completely free of peroxide and no longer contains any impurities that could have an unfavorable effect on the polycondensation.
Example 1: 7.8 g of oxalic acid bis-amidrazone are quickly dissolved in 375 ml of water boiled under nitrogen at a temperature of 35 to 40 ° C. The solution is placed in a stirred vessel and a solution of 12.7 g sodium bicarbonate and 56.5 g sodium chloride (= 7.5% by weight, based on water) in 375 ml of water is added. With vigorous stirring, a solution of 15.37 g of terephthalyl chloride in 750 ml of tetrahydrofuran is added in one pour. The stirred vessel is cooled to dissipate the heat of reaction. After stirring for 10 minutes, the polymer suspension is freed from tetrahydrofuran by distillation. The precipitated polymeric product is filtered off and washed three times with water and then with methanol.
The washing liquids remaining in the polymer are azeotropically distilled off with ligroin. The product is dried at 70 ° C. in vacuo. The reduced viscosity of 1 g of polyterephthaloyloxamidrazone in 100 ml of lomiger potassium hydroxide solution, measured at
20 C, is 5.4.
Example 2: 11.6 g of oxalic acid-bis-amidrazone are dissolved in 500 ml of water at 40 C and under
Stirring is mixed with a solution of 16.95 g of sodium bicarbonate and 75 g of sodium chloride (= 7.5% by weight, based on water) in 500 ml of water. A solution of is added with continued vigorous stirring
20.5 g of terephthaloyl chloride in 500 ml of tetrahydrofuran. After a stirring time of 10 minutes, the
Working up and purification of the resulting polymer according to Example 1. The product has a reduced viscosity of 4.64 (measured according to Example 1).
While maintaining the conditions of Example 1, further reactions are carried out using
Sodium sulfate or sodium chloride carried out. 7.8 g of oxalic acid bis-amidrazone and 15.37 g of terephthaloyl chloride are used in each case. The other conditions are shown in the table.
