The invention relates to a method for detecting and displaying the color of objects, in which at least one sensor is applied to the object, which essentially detects the respective color of the surface of the object in a punctiform manner and in which the color information is recorded, assessed and output .
Die Klassifikation des Farbsignals erfolgt dabei nach Farbton, Helligkeit und Sättigung (Intensität).Color recognition systems for the blind are known, which are constructed approximately in the manner of a pen. The tip of this pen is placed on the object to capture the color of the corresponding point. This is done in such a way that a lamp and a corresponding sensor are arranged in the tip of the pen. The lamp illuminates the spot and the sensor detects a corresponding color signal. The color signal is analyzed in an appropriate processing device and, for example, reproduced acoustically. The color signal is classified according to hue, brightness and saturation (intensity).
The object of the present invention is to obtain further information about the analyzed object. According to the invention, this is achieved in that the sensor is guided over a certain distance over the surface of the object, that a plurality of measured values relating to the color are recorded during the movement and that an evaluation of the two-dimensional structure or the type of the object is subsequently carried out he follows.
In the simplest case, statistics of the individual areas of an object can be created. For example, when the detection pen is moved over a red-green striped or checkered object, an output can be output that states that two thirds of the area is red and one third of the area is green, or what shade of green or red it is. In a further embodiment of the method according to the invention, statements can also be made about the pattern if the surface of the object has a predetermined color pattern.
Depending on the application and need, the color information can be assessed and output differently. The output can, for example, take place verbally via a speech generator, so that the color, for example, with " light green " referred to as. However, it is also possible to define the color by numerical values, in particular brightness and saturation being specified as numerical values on a specific scale. It is also possible to assign a specific tone to the color, the color properties being encoded by the type of tone, pitch and volume. The display itself can be done acoustically via a tone generator to give blind people the opportunity to record the color. If the device is intended for color-blind but sighted people, the color information can be shown on a display. Especially for the deaf-blind, a tactile display is possible, which is carried out by movable bolts.
In a particularly advantageous embodiment variant of the present invention, the recognition of predetermined images or objects can also be carried out. If, for example, 2 AT 002 811 Ul contains the images of various banknotes in a memory, then if the recognition pen is passed over one of the banknotes, it can be recognized in a pattern recognition process which banknote it is. The information of the color gradients, i.e. the sequence of individual colors used. For this purpose, if the number of images to be recognized is not excessive, there is no particular direction in which the pen should be over the image, i.e. for example, the banknote is kept. In a process of elimination, the images or banknotes that are certainly not applicable can be eliminated until there is only one possible solution left. The value of the banknote can then be reproduced by the voice output. Computing operations can be simplified by detecting the speed of the pen at which it is moved over the object. If mechanical or optical speed detection is provided, not only the course of the individual colors can be detected, but also the spatial extent of the respective color areas can be derived from the duration of the signals and the detected speed. For example, by providing several sensors, the speed of movement can be calculated from the time difference of the signal sequences.
It is essential to the present invention that the color information is recorded point by point. In this way, the data flow can be significantly reduced compared to conventional scanners that capture the image information across flat areas. Only this step enables the size of the object to be reduced to the format of a somewhat thicker ballpoint pen.
Furthermore, the present invention relates to a device for detecting and displaying the color of objects, with a light source for illuminating the surface of the object, a sensor for detecting the color of the surface, a processing unit for processing the information detected by the sensor and an output means for non-visual output of color information. The device according to the invention is characterized in that the processing unit is designed to record a plurality of temporally successive measured values of the object and to carry out an evaluation relating to the structure or color of the object.
With the present invention it is possible to select a specific sample from the enormous amount of information that a colored image offers. By analyzing this sample, that is the color information that is recorded along a certain path, certain statements can be made about the image or the surface of the object in question. In this way, not only can qualitative or quantitative statements about the appearance of an unknown object be made, but also a known object can be detected. Known object means on the one hand a two-dimensional image, such as a banknote, or the surface of a three-dimensional object. For example, according to the present invention, the appearance of all the goods offered in a supermarket can be stored, so that a barcode no longer has to be searched for at the checkout in order to automatically recognize the goods. It is only necessary to move the device according to the invention over the packaging or surface of the goods in order to detect them.
4With the present invention, it is not only possible to provide disabled people with improved ways of capturing their environment, but also to cover a variety of other applications. 4th
