Image tilt control generator for television receivers
The invention relates to an image tilt control generator for television receivers with a cold cathode tube, the pre-discharge and control electrodes of which are connected to a common supply source and are arranged one behind the other between the cold cathode and the anode, to which anode an RC element is connected, from which the output voltage of the generator is taken and the frame synchronizing pulses are fed to the control electrode. The pre-discharge electrode serves to reduce the statistical ignition delay of the discharge and is connected via a resistor to a supply source for generating the pre-discharge current.
The control electrode has a positive potential in relation to the cathode.
A disadvantage of the known generators is that the synchronization of the same is insufficiently stable and a control element must be used in the generators for synchronization readjustment, because any pre-discharge current or bias voltage change or even a mains voltage fluctuation lead to a disruption of the synchronization.
Another disadvantage is that, in the manufacture of television receivers, resistors, capacitors and tubes with a small spread of the characteristic values around a predetermined nominal value have to be used for these generators.
The aim of the invention is to create an image tilt control generator that works without a special control stage and ensures constant synchronization in the event of larger voltage fluctuations and deviations of the characteristic values from the nominal value.
This object is achieved according to the invention in that the control electrode is connected to the pre-discharge electrode via the series connection of two resistors and the synchronization pulses are supplied to the control electrode via the connection point of the two resistors.
The circuit of the electrodes according to the invention and the type of synchronization pulse supply according to the invention ensure the constancy of the anode ignition voltage and the stability of the synchronization in that the voltage drop at the pre-discharge electrode is used as a bias source and a change in the control electrode potential is compensated for by a change in the pre-discharge current.
In the following, the invention is explained in more detail with reference to an embodiment shown in the drawing, which reproduces the basic circuit diagram of a picture tilt control generator of a television receiver.
The generator contains a gas-filled tube in which a pre-discharge electrode - and a control electrode --3-- are arranged one behind the other between a cold cathode --4-- and an anode - -5--. An RC element containing a resistor 6 and capacitors 7 and 8 connected to a supply source Ei is connected to the anode 5. The capacitor --8-- is an isolating capacitor and is used to eliminate the DC voltage component in the sawing voltage occurring at the capacitor --7--. The pre-discharge electrode --2-- is connected to a current source E2 via a resistor --9--.

In some cases the resistances - 6 and 9 - can be connected to the positive pole of a common supply source. The control electrode --3-- is connected to the pre-discharge electrode --2-- via resistors --10 and 11-. A synchronizing pulse generator (not shown) is connected via an isolating capacitor -12-to the common connection point of the resistors -10 and -11.
The connection of the synchronization pulse generator via the capacitor --12-- in the way that the drawing shows, can cause relaxation oscillations in the electrical circuits of electrodes-2 and 3-; consequently the resistances - 10 and 11 - must have a sufficiently high value.
The sawtooth voltage at the output of the image tilt generator according to the invention is equal
EMI2.1
--5-- reaches a control electrode --3--, the capacitors -7 and 8 - discharge through the tube The relatively slow rise in the voltage on the capacitor -7-- when it is charged and the sudden drop in voltage when it is discharged ensure the presence of a sawtooth voltage at the output.
In the following, only the mode of operation of the generator part is described in detail, which ensures the stability of the vertical frequency synchronization.
EMI2.2
--2-- and glow path generated, which causes a drop in the voltage at the resistors - 10 and 11 - and thus a reduction in the potential of the control electrode --3-- compared to the pre-discharge electrode - -2--.
The control current is the stronger and therefore the reduction in the potential of the control electrode --3-- the more significant, the stronger the current flowing through the pre-discharge electrode. In cold cathode tubes, the anode ignition voltage is lower, the stronger the pre-discharge current and the higher the control electrode voltage.
The connection of electrodes 2 and 3 via resistors 10 and 11 ensures that the anode ignition voltage is stabilized. If the pre-discharge current increases, for example due to an increase in the mains voltage or as a result of the aging of the resistor --9 - and the tube -, the control current also increases and the potential of the control electrode-3-decreases, whereby the anode ignition voltage is practically stabilized. If the pre-discharge current becomes smaller for any reason, the potential of the control electrode-3- increases, whereby the anode ignition voltage is also stabilized.
It can be seen from this that the anode ignition voltage remains constant in the event of a change in the supply voltage as well as the characteristic values of the tube and the resistors, which ensures a high stability of the vertical frequency synchronization.
The application of the invention makes it possible to achieve constant synchronization with considerable changes in the supply voltage and the value of the resistors (the new values can be twice as high) with a low amplitude of the synchronization pulses, and to save the arrangement of special synchronization readjustment elements.
