Arrangement for mixing the working gas and the additional gas in arc plasma torches with a very high exit speed of the plasma jet
EMI1.1
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Ignite the plasma the pressure in the discharge space. This leads to the disadvantage that the mixing ratio, especially in the case of gases with very different specific weights, changes so much that operation cannot be maintained.
The invention has the purpose of avoiding the disadvantages of the prior art, to achieve a constant mixing ratio and a largely constant gas throughput during the entire operating time, even when the electrical power changes.
The invention is based on the object of preventing the negative influences of the nozzle constriction and the pressure increase.
The object is achieved in that, according to the invention, in order to achieve an almost constant mixing ratio and a slight change in the gas flow rate when the electrical power changes, a pressure gradient of preferably 1 to 10 atmospheres is generated in front of the gas discharge chamber of the plasma torch, which is done by switching on pressure orifices.
When using an injector mixing nozzle known per se, the pressure orifices are advantageously arranged between this mixing nozzle and the solenoid valves for the working gas and the additional gas.
The technical-economic effects, in particular the technical progress of the invention, can be seen in the fact that, due to the significantly higher pressure in front of the pressure orifices than the pressure in the gas discharge space, the mixing ratio in the pressure change in the gas discharge space caused by changing the electrical power remains approximately constant, while adjusts the gas flow rate according to the difference between the pressures before and after the pressure orifices.
The invention will be explained in more detail using an exemplary embodiment and the drawing.

concentrically arranged nozzles-15 and 16--. The outer nozzle - 16 - forms an annular gap around the inner nozzle --15--. The working gas flows through the nozzle -15- and sucks the specifically lighter additional gas through the nozzle -16- from the gas line -17- into the mixing bore -18-, where the two gases mix.
The gas mixture washes around the cathode holder, enters the gas discharge space --6 - and exits through the cutting nozzle-7-. As is known, the cathode --10-- is clamped in the cathode holder --1--, which is isolated from the housing -13-- by the insulator --12--. One between the cathode --10-- and the

when the main arc burning between the cathode --10-- and the workpiece --14-- is in operation. Changes in the electrical power of the main arc accordingly also cause pressure changes in the gas discharge space-6--.
Through the pressure aperture 1; 2- are the gas pressures in front of the pressure orifices-1; 2-- still much higher than the pressure in the gas discharge space-6--. Therefore, changes in pressure in the gas discharge space --6-- have only a slight effect on the gas throughput, which varies according to the pressures before and after the pressure stage orifice -1; 2- sets. The mixing ratio between working and additional gas therefore remains almost constant. The pressures before the aperture-1; 2- are advantageously chosen so high, z. B. 15 atü, that on the one hand the smallest possible change in the gas throughput and perfect ignition and operation of the plasma torch and on the other hand still an economical use of the gas bottles of the carrier gases is achieved.
The diameters of the pressure diaphragms-1; 2-- depend on the desired mixing ratio and the specific

different diameter not to be changed, since the mixing ratio and the gas throughput through the pressure diaphragm-1; 2-- are determined.
