<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Adjustable wet scrubber
The invention relates to a controllable wet scrubber, in particular a Venturi scrubber, which comprises one or more cells.
Controllable wet scrubbers are known per se. In a known construction, the narrowest cross section of a Venturi tube is designed to be variable, i. that is, it can be expanded and narrowed for control purposes. In another construction, a spindle-shaped displacement body is brought into the narrowest cross-section of the Venturi scrubber against the direction of flow of the raw gas. In these constructions, the narrowing of the narrowest cross-section causes the wash water to backflow or foam when the amount of water remains constant. As a result, the cleaning effect of such systems, in particular with small and very small gas throughputs, may be impaired.
According to the invention, this disadvantage is avoided in that in the area of the inlet part of at least some cells of the wet scrubber, in particular the Venturi scrubber, a throttle device is provided for the gas to be cleaned, which throttle device essentially consists of a screen surrounding an injection nozzle. According to a special embodiment of the throttle device, the screen is designed to be movable in the axial direction of the washer and is arranged to be movable relative to the injection nozzle.
Further details and features of the invention are described below with reference to the drawings, for example. 1 shows a section through the inlet part of a Venturi scrubber in elevation. FIG. 2 shows an analogous section, the nozzle being arranged in a regulating position. 3 shows a further embodiment of the nozzle according to the invention. FIGS. 4 and 5 show other shapes of wet washers in elevation.
In Fig. 1 an injection nozzle --1-- is arranged from the venturi inlet --3-- of the venturi scrubber --2-- at a distance which corresponds to the control position with the highest gas throughput. The liquid curtain --6--, which penetrates the gas flow of the exhaust gas to be cleaned, is reflected or atomized at the inlet part --3-- of the venturi scrubber --2--. A throttle device in the form of a conical screen --4-- is arranged on the injection nozzle-1-.
The screen --4-- is designed to be movable in the axial direction of the scrubber-2, 3 and can be arranged so as to be movable relative to the injection nozzle-1 or rigidly connected to it. If a small amount of gas is now passed through the scrubber, the passage cross-section -13-is reduced by lowering the screen -4. This control position is shown in FIG. By lowering the screen --4-- there is a stronger deflection of the gas flow, which is indicated by arrows.
At the narrowest point of the cross-section --13-- between the lower edge of the shield --8 - and the inlet part --3-- of the Venturi tube --2-- the gas flow --7-- penetrates the scrubbing liquid curtain --6-- and the one at the Entrance wall reflected liquid curtain --9--. One advantage of this arrangement is that the throttling effect of the screen - 4 - increases the
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Gas velocity only a slight deflection of the scrubbing liquid curtain --6, 7--.
The screen --4-- of the throttle device can be conical, bell-shaped or otherwise favorable in terms of flow.
If the nozzle-l-is firmly connected to the screen --4--, it can be moved together with this in the axial direction.
In a further development of the invention, the nozzle and screen can also be made from one piece, so that a separate screen --4-- is not necessary (Fig. 3). The nozzle --14 - can then also have a conical surface --5- on its underside, the cone angle of which is approximately equal to that of the one in FIG
Conical washer fluid curtain generated by the nozzle --6--. This measure largely preserves the veil --6--. Furthermore, this construction largely prevents the formation of eddies. For this reason, the nozzle has curves --10-- on the underside, which connect the conical surface -5- with the throttle element (screen 4).
An overview of the entire device is given in FIG. 4. This shows a section through a Venturi tube in an elevation. In front of the inlet part --3-- of the Venturi tube --2-- there is a movable nozzle-l-. Parallel to the nozzle-l-, the screen --4-- acting as a throttle, which is guided on the nozzle-l-, can be moved according to the control requirements. The flow path of the gas to be cleaned is indicated by arrows --7--. A relative movement of the screen --4-- to the inlet part-3-of the Venturi tube-2 - creates a
Throttling of the flow cross-section achieved for the gas flow.
At this point --13 -, where the gas has a high, preferably the highest flow rate, the scrubbing liquid is injected. The washing liquid is injected in a plane which is essentially normal to the direction of the gas flow and which, in the case of a circular Venturi tube, is a conical surface; The throttle device --4-- also has the shape of a cone shell. If the Venturi tube has a rectangular cross section, the throttle device can also be designed with a rectangular plan (approximately pyramid-shaped) and the jets of the washing liquid form two intersecting, roof-shaped planes. The liquid jets --6-- are at the inlet part - 3-- of the
Venturi tube --2-- reflected.
The reflected beam - 9-- penetrates the gas stream almost at the same point as the primary beam - 6--. A refinement of the washing liquid droplets occurs at the point of reflection of the primary jet. For this reason, the veil of droplets formed by the reflected rays is finer than the primary veil. From the fact that the cleaning effect of a wet scrubber is inversely proportional to the diameter of the washing liquid droplets and essentially proportional to the relative speed between the washing liquid droplets and the dust particles in the gas flow, a good cleaning success in the system according to the invention can be derived. These theoretical considerations are confirmed by the experiment.
In addition, the throttle device according to the invention increases the cleaning effect in the partial load range (with a constant addition of washing liquid and thus an increase in the water-gas ratio).
The wet scrubber shown in FIG. 5 has a similar construction. Here, however, the inlet part --3-- of the nozzle-shaped washing device, in contrast to the curved inlet part of the washing device according to FIG. 4, has planar or conical walls. This arrangement has the advantage that when the nozzle for the washing liquid device is displaced, the angle of incidence of the primary veil -6- on the walls of the inlet part -3- remains constant and there is thus a geometric similarity in all control positions of the washing device. Depending on the drop in efficiency in partial load operation of the wet scrubber, an optimal shape of the inlet part of the washing device or an appropriate shape of the throttle device --4-- can be derived.
In the given case, the throttle device - 4 - is firmly connected to the injection nozzle-1 - and can be moved with this according to the control requirements; In addition, it is equipped with the inclined surfaces --5-- mentioned above.
The invention is described and illustrated in the foregoing only by way of example. The shape of the throttle device --4-- or the inlet part --3-- can be varied within the scope of the invention. So z. B. the throttle device also have a hemispherical outline. If a washing system consists of several cells connected in parallel, according to the invention some can be designed to be non-controllable.
