<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

Hydraulically operated tool
The invention relates to hydraulically operated tools, e.g. B. vices, clamping devices, presses or the like.
One object of the invention is a simple, hydraulically operated tool which can also be operated by hand, is easily transportable and can be built in a self-contained form.
The USA patent specification No. 898, 413 describes a hydraulic vice in which the cylinder-piston unit which operates the movable tool is connected to a pressure source set up separately in the work space; In the hydraulic line there is a pedal-operated valve with which the tool movement can be controlled.
The disadvantages of this proposal are obvious: Dependence on its own pressure source, location-specific area of use, obstruction of the workplace by the hydraulic lines, etc. like m.
EMI1.1
likewise no closed construction within the meaning of the invention.
In contrast to this, in the invention the pressure source which can be operated at random is combined with the tool and thus a construction that is completely independent of the environment and free from the disadvantages mentioned is created.
According to the invention, a hydraulically operated tool with a movable tool part, which is connected via a rod to a double-acting cylinder-piston unit that can be pressurized with pressure fluid, and with a valve arrangement controlling the pressurization, characterized by two further ones, with the cylinder-piston unit via a tube system unilaterally acting control-cylinder-piston units of various diameters connected and forming a structural unit, a fluid storage tank connected to the active side of the control piston via a unidirectional valve, which is also structurally combined with the cylinders,
One check valve each inserted into the output line of the control cylinder and one control valve set consisting of four valves built into the pipe system, two of these valves being coupled and operated by manual actuation together, but in pairs in opposite directions, such that one of the control cylinder chambers with one Piston side of the cylinder-piston unit and the other piston side of the same are connected to the liquid container.
An exemplary embodiment of the invention in the form of a hydraulic device will now be described with reference to the drawings, in which Figure 1 is a partial longitudinal section taken along line 1-1 of Figure 3; Fig. 2 shows a longitudinal section along the line II - II of Fig. 3; Fig. 3
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Fig. 10 shows a rear view of the embodiment; Fig. 4 shows a partial section of the control valve mechanism along line IV-IV of Fig. 3; Fig. 5 shows a partial section of the cylinder cover along the line V-V of Fig. 3 and Fig. 6 shows a schematic representation of the course of the oil in the hydraulic device.
As can be seen in the drawings, the device has a fixed jaw --1- and a movable jaw --2--. The fixed jaw-1-is formed from one piece with a box-like housing --3--, while the movable jaw --2-- together with an extended support arm --4-forms one piece. Located in the housing --3-- and screwed to it is a pump body --5--, in
EMI2.1
of the pump body-5-and correspondingly aligned with the cylinders-6 and 7-a pair of longitudinal slots -12 and 13-is formed, into which the corresponding ends -14 and 15-of a pair of levers -16 and 17-protrude and strike, whereby these are mounted from a rotation axis --18- which is fixed to the housing.
Operating cables 21 and 22 are attached to outwardly extending arms 19 and 20 of the lever and are connected to operating pedals (not shown). The upper ends of the arms --16 and 17 - are biased clockwise by tension springs --23 and 24 - with one pair of their ends connected to the ends of the levers - 16 and 17 - and the other pair of their ends is fixed to the housing. A clockwise rotation of the levers is limited by the fact that the outwardly extending arms --19 and 20-- hit a fixed stop pin --25--.
The outlet openings of cylinders 6 and 7 are connected to a valve box 26, as shown schematically in FIG. 6. The valve box -26- has a pair of one-way valves -27 and 28-, which regulate the connection between the cylinders -6 and 7- and an oil tank -29-, and a pair of exhaust valves -30 and 31-, which are connected via valves --27 and 28-- are connected to cylinders --6 and 7-- accordingly.
As can be seen in Fig. 6, during a compression stroke of the piston -8- hydraulic fluid is forced from the outlet of the cylinder -6- through the one-way valve -30- into the outlet pipe -32-. while a suction stroke of the cylinder --6-- sucks the hydraulic fluid out of the container -29- through the suction tube -33- and the valve -27-. In a similar way, the cylinder --7-- works together with the valves - 28 and 31-.
EMI2.2
connected to both ends of a master cylinder -37-. in which a sliding main piston - 38 - with a piston rod - 74 - is seated, with the main cylinder - 37 - screwed to the housing - 3 -.
As shown schematically in Fig. 6, the control valve set --34 - has four separate valves - 41, 42, 43 and 44 - which are connected to one another in such a way that the outlet of the valve - 41 - is connected to the inlet of the valve - 44-- and the outlet of the valve --42-- is connected to the inlet of the valve --43--. As explained below, the actuation mechanism of the valves is arranged so that valves --42 and 43 - are closed and vice versa. So when valves --42 and 44-- are open and valves - 41 and 43-- are closed, pressurized oil flows out of line --32-- through open valve -42- into line --35-- and into the left end of the cylinder -37-, thereby pushing the piston -38- to the right and opening the device.
At the same time, oil is pressed from the right end of the cylinder through line -36- and the opened valve-44- into the container - 29 -.
On the other hand, when valves --41 and 43 - are open and valves --42 and 44-- are closed, pressurized oil flows through line --32-- into line --35- and so into the right end of the cylinder , moves the piston to the left and thus closes the device, while oil from the cylinder --37-- through the piston --38--, the line --35- and through the open valve --43-- into the container --29-- is pushed back.
The construction of the control valve set --34 - is described below with reference to Fig. 4.
As shown in this figure, the valve set --34-- has a valve box --45--. in which four cylindrical valve openings are formed (only two of which are shown in Fig. 4), each opening having a valve body with a conical nose which, under the action of a pretensioned spring, presses against a valve seat which passes through a shoulder in the valve opening is formed. The individual valves shown in Fig. 4 correspond to the valves --41 and 42 - which are shown schematically in Fig. 6. The valve arrangement shown in Fig. 4 has three outlet openings (from
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
EMI3.1
of the cylinder connected.
The operating mechanism of the individual valves is now described:
The head pieces of the valve bodies --42 and 44 and 41 and 43-- are coupled with corresponding coupling brackets - 55 and 56--. A pair of operating screws - 57 and 58 -. which are screwed through a support plate --59--. press the brackets -55 and 56- accordingly. The screw -57- is coupled with a gear -59- which engages in a second gear -60-, which is connected to the screw -58-. The gear wheel --59-- can be turned by means of a rotary handle --62-- connected to it.
A clockwise rotation of the handle --62-- results in a clockwise rotation of the gear wheel --59-- and a shift of the screw --57-- in the direction that the valve body is pressed against the force of the pretensioned spring on its seat. At the same time, however, the clockwise rotation of the gear-59-accompanied by a counter-clockwise rotation of the gear-60 -and a displacement of the screw-58-in the direction that the valve set is relieved of the pressure of the valve body. In this way, therefore, by turning the handle -62- in one direction, the valves -42 and 44-are closed and the valves -41 and 43- are opened, whereas turning the handle -62- in the opposite direction Direction of rotation the valves -42 and 44-opens and the valves -41 and 43- closes.
The following describes the type of connection between the piston rod --74-- and the movable jaw --2-.
As can be seen in the drawings (Fig. 1), the piston rod -74- slides through an opening which is formed in the downwardly extending flange --4a-- of the arm --4--. The piston rod --74-- has a flange-like shoulder which is firmly connected to it and which presses against the edge of the opening formed in the flange --4a--. A set of springs --63-- is arranged around the piston rod --74--, enclosed in a housing --62a-- and resting on the flange --4a--, one side of which is against the flange --4a-- . presses against a nut with the other side. which sits on the piston rod - 74.
The operation of the hydraulic device will now be described.
EMI3.2
In order to open jaws 1 and 2, hydraulic fluid must act on the right face of the piston --38--. To do this, the handle --62 - is rotated in that direction. that valves --41 and 43 are opened and valves --42 and 44 - are closed.
If the valve set --34-- is able to depress the pedal connected to the rope --21-, then the lever -16- is turned counter-clockwise against the pretensioning force of the spring --23--, pushing the piston --8 - forward and thereby presses hydraulic fluid through the one-way valve --30-- into line --32--. As a result of the movement of the piston rod --74 - = - the shoulder --61-- presses on the flange --4a-- of the support arm of the jaw --2-- and this moves outward and moves away from the jaw-1 -. Continuing to press the pedal causes the piston to move continuously --38 - and the tool to open; this movement continues until the piston --38-- reaches the left end of the cylinder --37--.
Should the jaws be closed, i.e. H. be brought together. so the handle --62-- is turned in the opposite direction, thereby opening the valves --42 and 44 - and closing the valves --41 and 43--. If the pedal connected to the rope - 21 - is pressed down further, the hydraulic fluid is driven through the line --32 - into the line 35, i.e. H. into the left end of the cylinder, pushing the piston to the right. The movement of the piston under the action of the liquid that is pressed out of the larger of the two cylinders - 6 and 7 - is not suitable for fine adjustment.
When the movable jaw --2-- has almost reached the required position, the further fine adjustment of the jaw -2-- required for clamping is achieved by actuating the pedal connected to the rope - 22--, whereupon hydraulic fluid is applied from the smaller cylinder --7-- through the one-way valve --31--.
It is obvious that the movement of the movable jaw --2-- in the direction of the fixed jaw --1-results from the fact that the set of springs --63-- on the adjacent side of the support arm of the movable
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
Jaw --2-- presses. If the movable jaw-2-has reached such a position that an object is clamped between the two jaws, then the spring set -63- is compressed by further pumping by the piston -6 or -7-. If a slight hydraulic loss occurs while the jaws are in the clamping position, this loss does not lead to the jaws moving apart and releasing the clamped object, but rather the jaws are pressed together not only by the hydraulic force but also by the spring set.
