Behufs Herstellung der Bürste wird der gemahlene Graphit in eine Form eingebracht und dann einer in der Richtung des Pfeiles (Fig. 3) wirkenden Pressung unterworfen, so dass unter dem Einflusse der letzteren die   Plättchen   oder Schuppen, wie bereits angegeben wurde, sich mit ihren Breitflächen parallel zur Druckfläche anordnen und mit ihrer grössten Dimension in die Längsrichtung der Bürste zu liegen kommen, wie aus Fig. 1 und 2 ersichtlich ist.

   Bei einer derartigen Anordnung der Plättchen oder Schuppen ist es klar, dass eine weit grössere Anzahl. derselben Fläche an Fläche in der Dickenrichtung der Bürste liegt, als auf eine entsprechende Strecke in der Längsrichtung der Bürste solche Plättchen oder Schuppen, und zwar Kante an Kante zu liegen kommt ; da weiters die aneinander liegenden Flächen der   Plättchen   dem Durchgang des Stromes ein gewisses Mass von Widerstand entgegensetzen, so erscheint es mit Rücksicht darauf, dass die Zahl der Berührungsflächen in der Dickenrichtung der Bürste grösser als in der Längsrichtung derselben ist,
