Optical system with continuously variable focal length for photographic or cinematographic devices
Patent No. 248140 relates to an optical system of continuously variable focal length for photographic or cinematographic equipment. The new system comprises an objective whose image plane is mapped into the film plane by an inversion system, the inversion system containing the aperture diaphragm of the overall system and this diaphragm being imaged in the aperture diaphragm plane, in particular by a field lens arranged in the area of the intermediate image plane. What is new and inventive in the subject matter of the parent patent is the design of the objective as a pancratic objective whose aperture diaphragm plane lies in the area of the last movable image or in front of this image.
While the examples of optical systems described in the parent patent regarding their optical data, such as focal length range or focal length and relative aperture ratio, can also be carried out in the previous form, this does not apply to the system listed below, or only to a limited extent.
It has been shown that in pancratic lenses with a focal length range of 10: 1 and above, with a minimum focal length of less than 6 mm (based on the 8 mm narrow film format), the front sections in particular reach unacceptable dimensions. The invention provides a way of keeping the size and corrective effort within reasonable limits, even in optical systems with these extreme powers. This is primarily achieved in that the aperture diaphragm or the real image of the same can assume its optimal position regardless of the mechanical conditions. It is also essential that the front element remains stationary when the focal length is changed, so that a cover plate for the objective can be omitted.
The optical system according to the invention will be described in detail below, reference being made to the drawings. 1-3 of the same shows a pancratic system in three different settings. The inversion system of the present example can be used in two different magnification settings. The following data refer to a pancratic system for 8 mm film cameras, which has a focal length of 4 to 40 or 6 to 60 mm with an aperture of 1.18.
The individual elements of the optical system are shown as thin lenses, the axially parallel opening rays 20 are in full lines, the main rays aiming through the image field ceiling are dashed. (In order to achieve adequate security against vignetting, the image diagonal is assumed to be 10% larger than the actual recording format.)
The new imaging system has a stationary positive front member 27, a displaceable negative member 28 and a positive member 29 which can be displaced to keep the image location constant. The inverting system 30 has a magnification different from 1 and is in two different * 1st additional patent no.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Usable settings. In a first setting of the inversion system 30 (shown in full lines), the magnification of the same is ss = 0.816. In this position of the inversion system, the overall system has a focal length range of 4 to 40 mm, in the second setting (8 = 1,224 , shown in dashed lines in the drawings), a focal length variation in the range 6-60 mm is possible. In order to keep the size of the diaphragm image independent of the position of the inversion system and thus to keep the light intensity of the objective constant when the inversion system is adjusted, the aperture stop 31 is arranged between the inversion system and the image plane. A negative field lens 32 is provided in the plane of the intermediate image.
The refractive power of this field lens is determined in such a way that the image of the aperture stop 31 in the objective is obtained in an optimal position.
The above-mentioned pancratic system is characterized by the following individual focal lengths and distances. A. Enlargement of the inversion system (30) ss = 0.816
