<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
struktion.

Inner-axis rotary piston machine of the trochoid design
The invention relates to an internal-axis rotary piston machine of the trochoid design with a cylindrical external rotor and a parallel-axis and eccentrically arranged cylindrical internal rotor as well as a crank firmly connected to a shaft that is central to the external rotor and an internal-axis gear pair, the transmission ratio of which is preferably 2: 3 and of which one gear is permanently connected to the external rotor and the other is rotatably mounted on the crank.
Machines of this type are already known in which internal and external runners rotate in the same direction at different angular speeds around parallel axes, the speed ratio being determined by a pair of gears, on which the shapes of the runners - a trochoid and an associated envelope curve - depend. Such machines usually have an eccentric as a bearing for the internal rotor and a pair of internal-axis gears, which determine the relative movement of the two rotors. The relative movements are simple trochoid movements. The inner forms of the outer runners are parallel curves to trochoid with any number of arcs.
Since the axes of the two runners are in an unchangeable position with respect to one another, their centers of rotation are also invariable with respect to one another, and there are no tangents of associated carriage curves that can be rigidly assigned to one of the two runners. Rather, during the relative movement of the rotors, the tangents performed pivoting movements with respect to the two rotor centers, which makes it difficult to seal the working spaces of such internal combustion engines.
One of the known machines has a particular similarity with the design according to the application. As the inner shape of the outer runner, it has a parallel curve to a three-arched hypotrochoid and an inner runner with an approximately elliptical cross-section. But their rotor contours are also the result of a simple trochoid movement and their common tangents are not fixed in the system. Its outer runner shape is not a constant thickness and also not a parallel curve of a hypocycloid, which can only arise from two superimposed trochoid movements. The same sealing difficulties exist for an internal combustion engine of this type as for all other trochoid machines.
For structural reasons, trochoid machines make use of the option of holding the outer rotor firmly and designing it as a machine housing, the ordinal number of the movement of the inner rotor increasing by one. Two first-order rotational movements, i.e. around fixed axes, become a second-order rotational movement, also circular movement or planetary movement.
The inner rotor now rotates around its own axis, as well as with it around the axis of the outer rotor.
The machine according to the invention has the feature that an eccentric, on which the inner rotor is rotatably mounted, is rotatably mounted on the crank and has a pinion toothing coaxially to the crank, which forms the gearwheel rotatably mounted on the crank, which is connected to the external rotor Fixed internal gear engages, and that a second inner-axis gear pair is provided, the gear ratio of which with a gear ratio of the first gear pair of 2: 3, which results in a three-arc hypotrochoid movement, 1:
2 and thus additionally results in a double-arched, namely straight hypocycloidal movement, the smaller gear of the second
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Pair is designed as a pinion toothing that is coaxial to the crank and firmly connected to the crank and engages the internal gear provided on the internal rotor and coaxial with it, so that the geometric center point of the internal rotor is relative to that of the external rotor, changing the center distance of the rotors on a preferably three-pointed Hypocycloid moves, and the cross-section approximately elliptical inner runner is perpendicular to the hypocycloid trajectory of its center point due to the superimposition of its rotational movement over its center movement with its axis of symmetry in each movement phase, and the end points of this axis describe the envelope curve of the outer runner
which, as a parallel curve to the midpoint path, represents a constant thickness to which the inner rotor symmetry axis always forms a diameter and is also perpendicular in both contact points.
In the machine according to the invention, the inner rotor means moves relative to the outer rotor means on a preferably three-pointed hypocycloid and the elliptical inner rotor is guided in such a way that the axis of symmetry through the relatively narrow end faces of its lateral surface is always perpendicular to this hypocycloid and therefore also to the touching inner wall of the outer rotor stands.
The inner rotor executes a third-order rotary movement relative to the outer rotor, which is similar to a pivoting movement. It arises from three rotary movements of the first order, which take place around mutually parallel axes connected by a crank and an eccentric, by superimposition and can be broken down into a rotary movement of the first order, namely that of the outer rotor, and a planetary movement of the inner rotor by holding the crank . Two pairs of gears ensure the design-related speed ratios.
Because one of the mentioned design options has a similarity to an already known design because of the circular movement of the internal rotor, this will be referred to from now on as a rotary piston machine, while the other design is called a rotary piston machine because of its complete novelty. For these, the construction and mode of operation are explained below with reference to the drawings. Fig. 1 shows an example embodiment of the machine in section and the associated gear scheme. In FIGS. 2, 3 and 4 the geometrical principle of the transmission is shown in more detail. In Fig. 5, a possible arrangement of shafts, gears and bearings is shown in section.
In the arrangement according to FIG. 1, the internal rotor 4 is articulated with the axis of symmetry 11 in the center 3 on the eccentric 9. With the internal rotor 4 an internal toothing 14 concentric to the means 3 is also rigidly connected. This internal toothing 14 is in engagement with a gear 6 'which is rigidly seated on one end 7 of the crank 8, the other end of which is fastened to the shaft 1 in the central axis of the external rotor 2. On the outside runner
EMI2.1
rotatably seated on the eccentric 9 with 7 as the center, in engagement. The ratio of the number of teeth of 6 and 10 is 2: 3, that of 14 and 6 'is 2: 1.
The movement of the inner rotor 4 by means of the eccentric 9 and via the gear ratio 14-6 'results in an inevitable guidance, since both the position of the center 3 and the angular position of the axis of symmetry 11 relative to the outer rotor are precisely determined. The machine according to the invention has the advantage that the working spaces can be sealed by several resilient sealing strips, one behind the other in the sliding direction, of which one in the center plane of the inner rotor is always perpendicular to the inner surface of the outer rotor. This prevents the inner rotor from chattering in the outer rotor.
When designed as an oscillating piston machine, the external rotor 2 is at rest; the drive or output takes place on shaft 1.
When it is designed as a rotary piston machine, the crank 8 rests and serves as an engine mount or suspension, the attachment or The output takes place from the rotating external rotor 2. The internal rotor 4 performs a second-order rotational movement.
With the new designs of internal combustion engines and pumps made possible by it, the design should combine a low-loss method of operation through good sealing of the working spaces with structural simplicity through the small number of only three moving parts. The space-saving and lightweight construction made possible by them also favors their possible application in the construction of movable drive units.
The kinematic principles of the transmission are described below with reference to FIGS. 2-4. In Fig. 2, the construction of the three-pointed hypocycloid 5 and their curve normals is illustrated. The geometric parameters of the curve result inevitably from their con
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
construction.
The curve is created when a circle 6 with the radius 2a can roll in a circle 10 with the radius 3a, u. Between each point on the circumference of the inner circle describes such a three-pointed hypocycloid, and two points which lie opposite one another on a diameter of the circle each move on the same curve (the hypocycloid is the special case of the hypotrochoid, the latter being produced by points which not on the circumference, but further inside or outside it).
If you hold the system for a moment and connect a curve point 3 just described by a straight line to the point at which the two circles 6,10 just touch, this straight line represents the curve normal at the point in question The point of the curve is the end of the second crank arm (eccentric) 9 and the straight line is the center line of the inner rotor.
Fig. 3 shows how the center line 11 is technically always kept in the normal position on this curve 5. Each point of the normal to the curve now, by definition, describes a curve parallel to the three-pointed hypocycloid. You can draw some of these parallel curves by using the
Point of the normal, which describes it, can move a bit on the normal away from the original point of the curve, as in FIG. 4, it can be seen that the parallel curves initially have a three-fold looped shape with six points, but which are getting smaller and smaller and finally disappear when the parallel curve has reached a certain size (a certain diameter).
In the end, it has become a three-arched constant thickness, in which the normal to the curve represents the diameter in any position and meets the parallel curve perpendicularly at both end points (theoretical sealing point). Only this uniform thickness, that is, the non-tangled parallel curves of the hypocycloid, come into question as the inner shape of the outer rotor. In terms of size, they are not related to the basic curve, so they can meet other design requirements
Customized at will.
The mechanism according to FIG. 3 has two circles (gears 61 and 14), of which the smaller one rolls back in the larger one. The larger 14 is fixed in the inner rotor (Fig. 4) and the smaller
61 firmly on crank 8, so that it rotates relative to circle 6 and eccentric 9. Your
Radii behave like 1: 2 and each point on the circumference of the smaller circle describes a straight line relative to the larger one, in that the point always moves on a diameter of the large circle.
However, one of these diameters is the center line 11 of the inner rotor, and a point of 6 t (in the imaginary extension of the crank 8) always moves (viewed in a plane) on the circumference of the circle 10 (in reality the gears 61 and 10 are not in engagement with each other but in two different planes, one in engagement with 14 and the other with 6).
Since the gear mechanism, which connects the inner and outer runners and their relative movements, is mechanically frictional and form-fitting, it can also be used for the technical production of the inner shape of the outer runner and the outer shape of the inner runner by cutting tools will.
5 shows a longitudinal section through the motor, from which a possible arrangement of gear wheels, bearings and shafts can be seen. The names agree with those of the others
Figures match. To complete the drawing, since it is a single-runner unit, an arrangement of the balancing masses is also drawn in, which, however, no longer belong to the gear mechanism and is therefore not designated in any more detail.
