zugeordnete Arme nl aufgeschoben.
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

assigned arms pushed up to the left. These arms n1 have the shape of a double-cranked lever, the branches n5 of which, facing away from the swinging section n2, are pulled against each other by a spring 0, which is suspended in I. white recesses n3 of the arms n1. In the area of the spring 0, the cover has a slot c7 within which the spring 0 can move freely. On the inner side the branches are held thicker than on the other parts of the arms nl and form jaws, the function of which will be explained later.
The jacket is completed by a frustoconical cap E made of elastic material, the edge e1 of which has a U-shaped channel into which the edge of a partition plate D made of plastic engages.
The component formed by the cap and the partition plate is fastened to the shell by means of the fastening ring B of the lid C. The required sealing is ensured by a ring R and by the edge e1 of the cap E.
The partition plate D has a central recess dl which is closed by a membrane F; this is held by means of a ring H which has a T-shaped cross section. The membrane F, which is made of elastic material, has a peripheral groove fl, into which the edge of the recess dl of the plate D engages. The part h2 of the ring H, which is formed by the web of the T, is kept slightly conical. Furthermore, the plate D has an eccentrically arranged hole d which corresponds to the hole c8 of the lid; the edge of this hole d2 engages in a peripheral groove gl of the mouth of a sack G, which extends into the collar C9 of the cover after it has passed through the gap of the release device N separating the jaws n5.
The sack G is therefore pressed in in its middle part. The mouth of the bag G is closed off by means of a pin I, which also serves to fasten the bag and has a calibrated hole i2 with a small diameter.
The firing pin L is arranged under the diaphragm F and comprises a disc 12 pressed against the diaphragm, a rod 11 with a square cross-section protruding into the hole in the cover C and a steel point M which is inserted into an axial hole in the rod 11 and above the Capsule U is arranged.
The steel point M is normally prevented from piercing the capsule by two tongues n4. The tongues n4 are provided on the arms nl and protrude into the square hole c2, penetrating the notches in the reinforcement c3. The lower surface of the rod 11 rests on the tongues n4, which are located in the path of movement of the firing pin.
Both the shell A and the cover C and the partition plate D each have an eccentrically arranged hole a3, cl0, d5. These three holes are aligned with each other. The partition plate D has on its underside an annular projection d6 provided with an internal thread and arranged concentrically to the hole d5, into which the upper end vl of a sleeve V made of plastic is screwed; the other end of the sleeve V has a termination which has a central recess and holes v2 arranged on an arc of a circle. This sleeve penetrates the holes c10 and a3. A threaded ring W and a ring Y made of rubber or plastic seal the sleeve against the shell. A similar seal is on the annular protrusion d6.
In the sleeve V there is arranged a piston X made of plastic, which is carried by a rod x2, which protrudes only slightly from the end of the sleeve and has a diametrical bore x3 at its free end. The piston carries a hemispherical head xl which forms a valve and closes the hole d5 under the action of the helical spring Z surrounding the rod x2. The piston X is not inserted tightly into the sleeve.
The mode of operation of the mine described is as follows: If a pressure exceeding the calibration is exerted on the cap E, the air present between the cap and the plate D is compressed; the spring Z, however, is dimensioned so that this pressure does not affect it. The air flows through the hole i2 of the pin I and inflates the bag G, which spreads the jaws n5 apart and thus also the tongues n4. As soon as the arms have rotated sufficiently around their pin c4, the tongues n4 slide off the rod of the firing pin L, whereby the latter is displaced in the hole c2 by the membrane F, which is influenced by the air pressure in the cap, and strikes the capsule U with its steel tip M; this detonates the primer T and then the explosive charge.
The basic advantage of the mine described is its impact resistance, i. that is, it cannot be ignited by a shock or a blow; Since the air used to inflate the sack G is supplied through a small hole, no immediate or sudden inflation can occur
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
of the sack. In other words, in order to inflate the bag G, the pressure must be exerted on the cap for a certain period of time; this makes the mine insensitive to impact and shock as well as pressure waves. This insensitivity allows a safe scattering of the mine by mechanical means.
The triggering device is designed in such a way that the firing pin is not released when the mine is hit or struck, or when the mine falls onto the ground; the two tongues cannot move away from the rod of the firing pin at the same time in the event of a shock or blow, since the arms nl, which are both movable in the same plane, cannot move in the same sense or in the same direction due to inertia. Only one of these arms can move, the other is held back by the central reinforcement c3, whereby the tongue n4 retains the firing pin.
The vent X with which the mine is equipped improves the safety conditions for the manipulations preceding the setting or throwing of the mine. In order to bring the safety device into the operative position, the rod x2 is pulled out a little and a pin is inserted into the bore x3 which, after releasing the rod x2, rests against the underside of the shell, whereby the head xl is kept away from the hole d5. In this state, the mine cannot explode, since the triggering device is not effective even when pressure is exerted on the cap E; The air compressed dtircli the cap E does not flow to the sack G, but unhindered through the holes v2 into the open air after it has flowed through the sleeve V, so that the sack G is not inflated and the tongues n4 do not slide off the firing pin.
After pulling the pin out of the hole x3, the spring Z can take effect and pushes the head xl of the piston X against the hole d5 in order to close it.
The ventilation acting as a safety device can allow the air pressure in the chamber delimited by the cap E and the partition plate D to be equalized. It is sufficient that the head xl does not close the hole d5 tightly or results in a closure with so-called microscopic losses. Under these circumstances, the air that expands in the event of heating in the chamber can gradually flow out through the incomplete seal. Conversely, cooling of the air in the chamber causes air to be drawn in from outside, and the like. betw. through the leaky seal. So, on the one hand, strong warming cannot cause the mine to explode and, on the other hand, the mine does not become ineffective if it cools down significantly.
In a further simplified version without additional securing, the mine is identical to that described with the aid of the drawings, with the difference that the sleeve and the piston are omitted and that the eccentrically arranged holes d5 , c10 and a3 are missing.
The mode of operation of this mine is similar to that of the aforementioned mine with an inoperative safety device, i.e. H. with closed hole d5.
Furthermore, an additional safety device can be provided on the mine, which is put out of operation before laying or spreading. The mine can of course also be used without any safety device. Since the mine according to the invention has practically no metal parts, it is difficult to find using the currently known search devices.
