Control device for flywheel converters with arranged on the converter shaft
Exciter.
The flywheel converting machines, which consist of a starter motor b equipped with a heavy flywheel a and directly connected to the central station, and a direct current starting dynamo c, the energy of which is used to operate the working, (conveyor or roller-drum) machines (d), are useful assembled with an exciter e arranged on the converter shaft, which supplies the magnetizing current for the starting dynamo c. Flywheel converters are operated in such a way that the voltage of the starting dynamo c is changed as required by changing the magnetizing current between zero and a negative maximum.
For this purpose, the starting dynamo c resistor is switched on or off by the field circuit f supplied by the exciter under constant voltage. At the same time, a change in the counter-electromotive force can also be made on the motor side of the converter, namely in three-phase motors in the rotor circuit by switching on the resistance motor by changing the resistor g - or field circuit, which makes the

switching lever corresponds to a certain number of revolutions of the starter motor b compared to the number of revolutions of the unloaded engine.
Simultaneously with the number of revolutions of the converter, the voltage of the exciter machine c arranged on the converter shaft would also change. To avoid this, the excitation current of the excitation machine e, which is directly coupled to the main machine c, is controlled in a known manner by switchable resistors.

ensures that with the lever 1 switching the resistors g of the starter motor of the converter, a second switching lever k is inevitably coupled, which increases the resistance us of the field circuit l of the exciter motor e by switching off a correspondingly dimensioned group of resistors which is assigned to the movement of this lever, reduced, whereby a corresponding increase in the magnetizing current is caused such that the voltage of the exciter o remains at the same level despite the reduced number of revolutions.
Instead of using necessarily coupled levers, any other mechanical or electrical dependency of the shift lever in question can be used for the same purpose.
