Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Herstellung des   neuen6-Chlor-16a-methyl-A-pregnadien-     - 17a-ol-3,   20-dions und seiner   17-Ester.   



   Die erfindungsgemäss herstellbaren Verbindungen haben die allgemeine Formel :

 worin R Wasserstoff oder einen Acylrest mit   1 - 6   Kohlenstoffatomen bedeutet. Gemäss der Erfindung werden diese Verbindungen nach an sich bekannten Methoden durch Spaltung des Oxiranringes mittels Chlorwasserstoff aus dem entsprechenden 6,7-Epoxyd hergestellt, welches seinerseits beispielsweise nach folgendem Reaktionsschema, worin Ac einen Acylrest mit   1 - 6   Kohlenstoffatomen bedeutet, erhältlich ist :
