Durchs chreibemate rial

Copy material
According to a proposal made by the patentee that has not been published in advance, a copy material for making copies without the use of carbon paper has been described, which consists of two or more sheets of paper placed one on top of the other, with a coating of wax, waxy substances on their front or wear a resin or one of these
Contain substances incorporated in the paper pulp and which have a coating on the back with a color composition that does not write on normal paper, but does on the underlying sheet prepared in the manner described above and which is characterized in that the color composition
Contains cellulose derivatives,
which was applied in a manner known per se from a mixture of solvents and precipitants for the cellulose derivative, so that the cellulose derivative has "tarnished".
When producing such a copy material in the manner described, it has often been found to be a disadvantage that the layer was not sufficiently lightened with the necessary cellulose derivative content to cover the mostly black dye contained in the layer so that the The paint layer turned light gray. This is due to the fact that the cellulose derivative begins to flocculate too late and therefore there is no complete "tarnishing" of the layer.
In order to achieve the most complete tarnishing possible for the layer, it was obvious to increase the percentage of the color pigment, e.g. B. graphite or soot to increase in order to increase the number of excretion nuclei as possible. However, if the proportion of color pigments is increased, the layer becomes so dark that even with optimal tarnishing of the binder, no more satisfactory lightening can be achieved. In addition, such a layer is no longer smudge-proof.
The aim of the invention was therefore to produce a carbonless copy material of the type described, the color layer of which is greatly lightened by the cellulose derivative contained therein and nevertheless provides copies with dark writing and high color intensity.
In order to achieve an optimal fine-grained precipitation of the cellulose derivative and thus the tarnishing of the layer according to the invention, it is proposed to increase the proportion of pigment. However, this cannot be done simply by increasing the content of color pigment in the layer, because as a result, as already said above, it would become too dark and would no longer be smudge-proof. According to the invention, therefore, a certain proportion of non-coloring pigments must be added. Pigments are to be used here which are in a visually clearly recognizable contrast to the color of the coloring pigment, so ideally — when using black color pigments — white pigments. These additional contrasting pigments can either be opaque such as e.g. B. titanium dioxide or only weakly opaque such. B. kaolin.
In any case, the amount of the different pigments should be selected so that the sum of the color pigment + contrast pigment results in the pigment content required for optimal fine-grained precipitation of the cellulose derivative. At first it was not to be expected that despite the addition z. B. a copy material can be produced on white pigment, which provides dark copies with high color intensity, since it was to be assumed that the white pigment would reduce the color strength of the color pigment so that the copies would look pale and gray. Contrary to all assumptions, a copy material produced according to the invention provides copies of high color strength and intensity.
Basically, there are two different ways of carrying out the invention. Development

neither one takes as much color pigment for the production of the color mass as is necessary in order to achieve beautiful copies of high color intensity and as was already done in the proposal, which was not published before
EMI2.1
B. causes the layer to run due to the cellulose derivative it contains.
The other option is to use a mixture of color pigment and opaque contrast pigment, e.g. B. titanium white to achieve. In this case, it is advantageous to choose a higher amount of colored pigment, since an opaque white pigment is used at the same time, as a result of which the coloring strength of the colored pigment is somewhat reduced.
It is also possible to combine both procedures, i. H. So to use a mixture of color pigment, an opaque pigment and a non-opaque pigment.
Two exemplary embodiments are given below:

In both cases, the mass is rubbed in a ball mill for about 12 hours and applied to the back of a sheet of paper in a manner known per se. The dry application is 5-6 g / m2.
