Agar-Agar, Gummi arabicum, Tragant, Alginate, Carraghenat, Carboxymethylcellulose, Hydroxyäthylcellulose, Methylcellulose usw.

Aerosol preparation consisting of a pressurized aqueous suspension and process for its production
EMI1.1
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
EMI2.1
Consideration of the so-called HLB values assigned, which represent a measure of the lipophilic properties; Pronounced lipophilic substances are assigned a low HLB number, while substances with an increasingly hydrophilic character are assigned ever higher HLB values. The turning point between "lipophilic" and "hydrophilic" is approximately at the HLB number 10. The HLB values can be expressed for each substance with physical; chem. Determine methods.
In the aerosol preparation according to the invention, surface-active substances with an HLB value of 1-10 are accordingly concentrated in the liquid organic propellant phase because of their lipophilic character, while they are concentrated in the aqueous phase to be sprayed
Phase are only contained in a low concentration.
A quick but rough estimate of the HLB value of surface-axillary substances can be made from their behavior in water. Substances with an HLB value below 6 are e.g. B. those water-insoluble surface-active compounds which are not or only very poorly dispersible when shaken with water and do not give a milky dispersion even after vigorous shaking. These and other more precise determination and calculation methods for HLB values of surface-active substances from a wide variety of compound classes are known from the literature already cited and have been described in particular in "Parfümerie und Kosmetik", Vol. 41 (1960), pages 86-92.
The mono- or polyesters of saturated or unsaturated fatty acids with polyalcohols or mixtures of such esters are preferably used as surface-active substances with a Griffin HLB value of less than 10, and the like. between in amounts of about 0.05 to 56 gon and in particular from 0.1 to 10/0, calculated on the total weight of the preparation.
As such surface-active esters which can be used in accordance with the invention, the following may be mentioned, for example: sorbitan monolaurate, sorbitan monooleate, sorbitan dioleate, sorbitan trioleate, diethylene glycol monooleate, glycerol monoricinoleate, polyethylene glycol ricinoleate, etc.
The aerosol preparation according to the invention should preferably contain such an amount of a synthetic or natural water-soluble, viscosity-increasing colloid that the viscosity of the. aqueous suspension before the addition of the liquefied propellant is between 2 and 30 centipoise and advantageously between 5 and 10 centipoise. A synthetic water-soluble colloid from the group of carboxymethyl celluloses and hydroxyethyl celluloses is preferably used.
Examples of usable water-soluble colloids are:
Agar-agar, gum arabic, tragacanth, alginates, carraghenate, carboxymethyl cellulose, hydroxyethyl cellulose, methyl cellulose, etc.
Liquefied aliphatic hydrocarbons (propellants) with a specific gravity below 1 are primarily propane, butane and isobutane or mixtures thereof.
The solid hydrophobic material to be applied, representing the disperse phase to be sprayed, can consist of particles of materials for any application, such as water-insoluble pesticides, pigments and other hydrophobic substances for surface finishing, for coloring surfaces, for floor and furniture care, for finishing textiles, etc. The hydrophobic particles can, however, also be light stabilizers, cosmetics, disinfectants and pharmaceutically active substances, etc. Mixtures of several hydrophobic solids can also be considered.
All hydrophobic materials in particle form that are to be sprayed and applied from aerosol containers for any purpose, i.e. both elemental metals and non-metals and chemical compounds of inorganic and organic origin, come into consideration for this purpose.
Preferably the particle size of the hydrophobic material to be sprayed should be less than 50 microns. The content of such solid particles to be sprayed in the entire preparation is generally between 0.2 and 25% by weight.
Below are some hydrophobic solid materials that are suitable as components to be sprayed (in the form of fine particles) in the aerosol preparation according to the invention:
Sulfur, selenium, aluminum, metal stearates, insecticidal active substances such as phenothiazine, hexachlorocyclohexane, DDT, naphthyl-N-methylcarbamate (Sevin), dieldrin, naphthalene, hexachloroethane, paradichlorobenzene, methoxychloride, etc., insoluble herbicides of the triazine series such as simazine, etc. and fungicidal active ingredients such as zinc dialkyldithiocarbamate (e.g. Ziram), tetramethylthiuram disulfide (TMDT), hexachlorophene, Irgasan BS, dichlorophene, 5, 7-dibromo-8-oxyquinoline, etc.
In addition to hydrophobic solid active ingredients, the aerosol preparation according to the invention can of course also contain water-soluble active ingredients in the aqueous phase.
