Process for the production of incandescent bodies for electric incandescent lamps.
The parent patent no. 2088H has disclosed a process for the production of cast bodies made of pure tungsten or molybdenum. Tungsten is one of the heaviest fusible metals that is known and like the studies
EMI1.1
Goldschmidt's reduction process, in which, as is well known, the temperature rises to 3000n C, could not be brought to melt. The literature has so far not given any reliable information about the melting point of molybdenum.
In-depth investigations made with tungsten incandescent bodies have confirmed the above literature. The tungsten incandescent body is able to withstand the highest overvoltages, i.e. H. to endure the highest temperatures, which is extremely advantageous for the purpose of incandescent lighting. Unfortunately, glow bodies made of pure tungsten have the unpleasant property of brittleness, which in certain respects can cause difficulties in the manufacture of such lamps. Incandescent bodies made of molybdenum, regardless of how they are manufactured, show excellent elasticity and flexibility, which makes them advantageous from tungsten
EMI1.2
The present invention relates to incandescent bodies which consist of an alloy of tungsten and molybdenum, which combine the advantages of the tungsten filaments with those of the molybdenum filaments without having the disadvantages of the two.
Thorough experiments made with incandescent grain of such alloys. have shown that if the molybdenum content does not rise too high, such incandescent bodies have, on the one hand, great elasticity and strength and, on the other hand, high stresses
EMI1.3
Tolerated up to 1'5 watt per normal candle (Hefner candle).
The procedure for producing such incandescent bodies is as follows: one produces tungsten-hiiltigo filaments and replaces the carbon with molybdenum according to the method described in parent patent no. Such tungsten-containing carbon filaments are expediently produced in the following way: Finely divided tungsten total or compounds of tungsten and chlorzinc cellulose are mixed in, filaments are injected from them in a known manner, which are then carbonized in the absence of air. The same procedure is used for the production of molybdenum-containing carbon threads.
The threads obtained are then brought to a high temperature in a vacuum or in inert gases under the influence of an electric current, whereby
