 EMI1.1

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

   Austenitic chrome-nickel cast steel alloy for the manufacture of objects with high toughness and high
Wear resistance at elevated temperatures
 EMI1.1

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

   The high wear resistance of the steel alloys proposed according to the invention is advantageously achieved by a two-stage heat treatment, u. between solution heat treatment to saturate the austenitic base material with carbon and subsequent precipitation annealing, through which fine carbides are precipitated in the base material in a favorable distribution form, which in connection with the carbide network contribute to significantly increased wear resistance.

   According to the invention, the procedure is that after pouring into the corresponding molds, the cast parts are allowed to cool, whereupon they are subjected to a solution annealing at around 920-970 C, preferably 905 C, and a holding time of at least 20 minutes after the objects have been thoroughly heated. The cast parts are then cooled in air and subjected to a subsequent precipitation annealing within a temperature range of around 8000C with a minimum holding time of 15 minutes after heating.

   After this heat treatment, the structure of the steel alloy proposed according to the invention consists of an austenitic base mass in which fine carbides are precipitated and which also contains portions of martensite, as well as a partially dissolved carbide network.
