   Schleif- und Polierwalzen haben bokanntlich den Nachteil, dass dieselben auf dem Bleche fortlaufende Streifen erzeugen, welche man dadurch   zu verwischen trachtet, dass   man die Achsen der Polierwalzen gegeneinander und zur Fortbewegungsrichtung des Bleches geneigt anordnet. 



   Dies ist in jenen Fällen, in welchen das Blech auf seinem ganzen Wege unterstützt ist, ohne weiteres möglich, bietet aber in dem Falle, in welchem das Blech über grosse Walzen läuft, welche den Druck der Polierwalzen aufzunehmen bestimmt sind, gewisse Schwierigkeiten, deren Ursache darin liegt, dass der von der Polierwalze berührte Blechstreifen nur in einem einzigen Punkte von der unteren Walze unterstützt ist, was unmittelbar zur Folge hat, dass das Blech nicht gleichmässig poliert wird, weil der Druck auf dasselbe von dem Kreuzungspunkte der Polierwalze mit der Gegenwalze nach beiden Seiten hin abnimmt. 



   Es wurde versucht, diesen Nachteil dadurch zu beheben, dass man den Unterwalzen die Gestalt   eines Hyperboloides gab,   dessen Erzeugende parallel zur Achse der Polierwalze gelegen ist und wodurch naturgemäss der Erfolg erzielt wurde, dass die Polierwalze die so gestaltete   Unterwalzo   längs einer Erzeugenden bezw. der ganzen   Blechbreite nach berührt.   



   Diese Anordnung hat aber den Nachteil, dass das Blech, um die Mantelfläche des   hyperbolischen Paraboloides   zu berühren, das letztere in Rinnenform passieren   muss,   was insbesondere   für die Fortbewegung   und die tadellose Politur nicht vorteilhaft ist.
