for the edges of the cooperating knives should be as sharp as possible.
Surprisingly, it has now been found that the device according to the invention, in addition to the advantages it can achieve, also requires significantly less cutting energy than the previously known devices.
According to the invention, this is achieved in that the cutting edge of the stationary knife is rounded and which rounding has a radius of curvature of preferably 0.3 to 0.6 mm and that the distance between the cutting edges of the stationary knife and the movable knives is smaller than
0.04mm, preferably less than 0.02mm. The angle between the side surfaces of the stationary knife can be selected differently depending on the material to be chopped and should preferably be approximately 450.
The movable knives can be arranged interchangeably on a knife head, but they can also be designed in one piece.
Particularly favorable results are achieved when the front surfaces of the movable cutting edges enclose an angle of 70 to 900 with the tangent to the path of the cutting edges, while the rear surfaces form a distance of 0.1 to 1 mm with this tangent from the cutting edge Angle of
Include 5 to 100 and then angled 10 to 300 from the path of the cutting edges.
It has been shown that the closer the angle that the chest surface includes with the tangent to the path of the cutting edge approaches 900, the better the device is suitable for granulating relatively hard wires. These can optionally be added by adding relatively hard pigment, such as. B. titanium dioxide are hardened.
In the drawing, the device according to the invention is illustrated schematically using an exemplary embodiment. It shows a cross section through the cutting edges of two cooperating cutting knives of the device.
The stationary knife is designated by 1 in the drawing. Opposite this stationary cutting edge a cylindrical cutting body 2 rotates in the direction of the arrow, the cutting teeth 3, 4, 5 of which are arranged on the circumference of the cylindrical cutting body.
The cutting knife can, for example, have a diameter of 10 cm and be provided with 25 teeth on its circumference.
Along the upper side surface of the stationary knife 1, several round wires 6 are fed to the cutting knife in the direction of the arrow, lying next to one another. Only one of these wires, which have a thickness of 1.5 mm, for example, is shown. Each time a wire 6 is caught by the cutting knife, a granule 7 is cut off.
The stationary knife is at a distance of 0.02 mm from the path 8, which the cutting edges of the movable knife describe. The axis of the cutting knife lies parallel to the cutting edge 9 in the plane of the upper side surface of the stationary knife. The cutting edge 9 has a radius of curvature of 0.3 mm.
The chest surfaces 10 of the cutting knives enclose an angle of approximately 800 with the tangent to the path 8 of the cutting edges. The back surfaces of the cutting teeth are angled in the area of the cutting edge, the clearance angle being 50. The remaining rear surface 11 includes an angle of 40 with the tangent to the path 8 of the cutting edges. The surfaces 12 have a length of 0.25 mm.
Even at very high operating speeds, it has been found that the cutting device delivers very clean and smooth granules with practically no dust between them.
