of the truncated cone is related to the entire surface area of the truncated cone as 0.1: 0.5. The shape of the openings in the cone shell can be chosen to be circular, but an oval or angular shape is also possible, which is elongated in the transverse or longitudinal direction with respect to the gas flow direction.
The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to two exemplary embodiments which are shown in the drawing. 1 shows a schematic representation of a longitudinal section through an exhaust system with a perforated, converging truncated cone and with a straight center line, and FIG. 2 shows a similar exhaust system with a curved center line of the perforated truncated cone.
The exhaust system according to FIGS. 1 and 2 contains an acoustic damper 1 of known design, a pipe 2 with an adjoining chamber 3 to which a diffuser 4 in the form of a diverging truncated cone is attached and merges into an antechamber 6 of the acoustic damper 1. Adjacent to the diffuser 4 is a cone 5 protruding into the antechamber 6 in the form of a converging truncated cone with a largest cross section F and a smallest cross section f, and to this another cone 7 with a largest cross section f and a smallest cross section f. This cone 7 is perforated along its entire length L.
Substitute diameters D, d and d 'are identified by the formulas:
EMI2.1
From the moment the control of an internal combustion engine (not shown) is opened, a gas flow occurs through a pipe 2, a chamber 3, a diffuser 4, converging truncated cones (cones) 5 and 7 and via an antechamber 6 and an acoustic damper through the action of elementary pressure waves Atmosphere. In the chamber 3 and in the diffuser 4 there is a reflection of the elementary waves which progress back to the control opening. The waves thus help accelerate the exhaust gas outflow from the engine cylinders through their suction.
On the other hand, the truncated cone 5 reflects original pressure pulses, so that they cause a gradual decrease in the exhaust gas outflow velocity, the gradual decrease in the velocity being even more favorable than that which was achieved by means of known orifices or by means of a direct connection of the truncated cone to the chamber 6 .
A further, even more favorable reduction in the outflow speed occurs through reflection of elementary pressure waves in the perforated converging truncated cone 7. A reflection occurs on the one hand with every elementary change in the cross-section of the truncated cone and on the other hand in every opening of its mantle.
Gradual reflections on elementary truncated cone cross-section changes in connection with reflections on the shell holes of the truncated cone ï cause the required increase in the exhaust system efficiency at low engine speeds, whereby a higher technical effect of the exhaust system as well as the engine as well as the silencing is achieved.
