Verfahren zur Herstellung von Portlandzement.
Die Herstellung von Portlandzement geschieht heute in solchen Fällen, wo es sich nicht um von der Natur richtig zusammengesetzte Rohstoffe handelt, fast immer derart, dass die kalk-und tonhaltigen Rohstoffe durch trockene oder nasse Aufbereitung auf möglichste Feinheit gebracht und darauf entweder wieder zu grösseren Brocken (meistens Ziegeln) verformt und in Brennöfen mit feststehendem Feuerherd (Schacht- oder Hingöfen) zu Klinkern gebrannt werden, oder aber die Rohmasse wird ohne weitere Verformung Flammöfen mit einem sich ständig drehenden Herd zugeführt und in diesen zu Klinkern gebrannt. Der Nutzeffekt der Öfen der ersten Klasse ist wesentlich besser als der der zweiten.
Handelt es sich um eine Zementrohmasse mit wenig oder gar keinem Wasser, so beansprucht die Austreibung der Kohlensäure, also das Vorbrennen, die grösste Wärmemenge des ganzen Brennvorganges.
Um nun bei der Herstellung von Portlandzement an Brennstoff zu sparen, werden nach dem vorliegenden Verfahren die aus dem Bruch kommenden Rohstoffe zuerst in Schacht-oder Ringofen von ihrer Kohlensäure befreit, darauf aufbereitet und dann erst in den bekannten Drehrohröfen fertig gebrannt. Es ist zwar bekannt, zwecks Herstellung von Zement u. dgl. Öfen verschiedener Bauart aneinander zu reihen. Das Neue des vorliegenden Verfahrens besteht aber darin, dass zum Vorbrennen des Gutes die bekannten Schacht-oder Ringöfen und nur 7. 1101 Fertigbrennen Flammöfen verwendet werden sollen.

Nowadays, Portland cement is produced in cases where the raw materials are not correctly composed by nature, almost always in such a way that the lime and clay-containing raw materials are brought to the greatest possible fineness by dry or wet processing and then either again into larger chunks (mostly bricks) are deformed and burned to clinker in kilns with a fixed hearth (shaft or Hingöfen), or the raw material is fed without further deformation to flame ovens with a constantly rotating hearth and burned in these to clinker. The efficiency of the first class stoves is much better than that of the second.
If it is a raw cement mass with little or no water, the expulsion of the carbonic acid, i.e. the pre-burning, takes up the greatest amount of heat in the entire burning process.
In order to save fuel in the production of Portland cement, the raw materials coming from the quarry are first freed of their carbonic acid in a shaft or ring furnace, then processed and only then completely burned in the known rotary kiln.
