Die Mengenverhältnisse werden zweckmässig so bemessen, dass die Produkte auf 30 bis 80 Gew.-Teile Fasern etwa 70-20 Gew.-Teile Bindemittel, vorzugsweise auf etwa 60 Gew.-Teile
Fasern etwa 40 Gew.-Teile Bindemittel, enthalten.
Der Press-und Fertigvulkanisierungsvorgang kann auf verschiedene Weise, z. B. mit Hilfe von Plattenpressen oder Walzenpressen oder auch in Druckkessel, wie solche unter anderem bei der Vulkanisation in der Gummiindustrie gebräuchlich sind, oder auch mit Hilfe von Zentrifugalkräften durchgeführt werden.
Die anzuwendenden Drucke können je nach den Arbeitsbedingungen in weiten Grenzen schwanken und z. B. bis zu 100 kg/cm2. vorzugsweise bis 50 kg/cm2 betragen. Der Verdichtungsgrad richtet sich nach der Art und Beschaffenheit der zu verdichtenden Gebilde und den Eigenschaften, welche den Endprodukten verliehen werden sollen. Die Verdichtung kann z. B. bis auf etwa den zehnten Teil der Dicke bzw. des Volumens des zu verdichtenden Gegenstandes durchgeführt werden.
Bei praktischer Ausführung der Erfindung kann mit besonderem Vorteil derart verfahren werden, dass die Verdichtung der imprägnierten Fasergebilde in einem Zeitpunkt stattfindet, in dem sich die Imprägniersubstanz noch in plastischem Zustand befindet. Hiedurch findet bei Durchführung des Pressvorganges eine besonders gleichmässige Verteilung des Bindemittels in dem Fasergebilde statt. Bei diesem Arbeiten mit vulkanisierbaren Bindemitteln (natürlicher oder synthetischer Kautschuk) empfiehlt es sich, der Imprägniermischung zwar Vulkanisationsmittel üblicher Art einzuverleiben, aber auf den Zusatz von hochaktiven Vulkanisationsbeschleunigern (sogenannten Ultrabeschleuniger) zu verzichten, damit das in das Fasermaterial eingeführte Imprägniermittel beim Verdichtungsvorgang in noch plastischem Zustand vorhanden ist.

In the practical implementation of the invention, it is particularly advantageous to proceed in such a way that the compression of the impregnated fiber structures takes place at a point in time when the impregnation substance is still in a plastic state. This results in a particularly uniform distribution of the binding agent in the fiber structure when the pressing process is carried out. When working with vulcanizable binders (natural or synthetic rubber), it is advisable to incorporate vulcanizing agents of the usual type into the impregnation mixture, but to forego the addition of highly active vulcanization accelerators (so-called ultra accelerators) so that the impregnation agent introduced into the fiber material remains plastic during the compression process Condition exists.
