<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
EMI2.1

Device for converting a predetermined length or a predetermined angle into an electric current of an assigned size
In measurement and control technology there is often the need to change the pointer positions of measuring devices (e.g. manometers, mechanical flow meters, level indicators or the like) into proportional
To convert currents. Potentiometers are generally used for this, which have the disadvantage that the potentiometer current obtained depends on the respective terminating resistor.
In some cases, however, it is desirable that the pointer position of a device is converted into a stream that is used for the pointer position in a specific functional context, e.g. B. in a quadratic context. In this way, devices for further conversion of the measured variable can be saved and / or required state corrections can be achieved. For these purposes, a current that is independent of changes in resistance and temperature in the measuring circuit is desirable.
The invention relates to a device for converting a predetermined length or a predetermined angle into an electric current of an assigned size, which avoids the disadvantages of the known devices with regard to accuracy and independence from the terminating resistor and also allows the formation of functional relationships.
The device according to the invention is characterized in that a device representing the predetermined length or the predetermined angle is connected via a measuring spring to the movable member of an electrical measuring mechanism provided with a permanent magnet or with at least one additional winding and that the device of the predetermined length or the predetermined Angle associated current is obtained from an electromechanical amplifier, preferably constructed from transistors, as a function of the deflection of the movable member of the measuring mechanism and is fed to a winding of the movable member.
An embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawing.
1 with an electromechanical amplifier is referred to, the output current il assumes a size dependent on the position of a shielding plate 2. The relationship between the position of the shielding plate * and the magnitude of the current il can be achieved, for example, in that the shielding plate 2 establishes an inductive coupling that is dependent on its position between two feedback coils of a tube or transistor resonant circuit. The current supplied by this resonant circuit is therefore dependent on the position of the shielding plate.
The movable element of a moving-coil measuring mechanism is denoted by 3, the moving coil of which carries the current. That device which serves to receive the current assigned to the length or angular position to be reshaped is denoted by 4 and connected to the circuit of the current il together with a measuring device 5. Two further coils 7 and 8 for further currents i2 and is are seated on the yoke 6 of the moving-coil measuring mechanism. The movable member 3 sits with the shielding plate 2 on an axle 9 which is subjected to a torque exerted by a spiral spring 10.
The end of the spring 10 not connected to the axis 9 is held in place by means of an adjusting device 11 in those angular positions V whose conversion into an associated electric current is required and which are indicated by a pointer 12.
The position of the pointer 12 is proportional to the torque exerted by the spring 10 on the axis 9 in the direction of the arrow. In the state of equilibrium, the counter torque exerted by the measuring mechanism is of the same magnitude, because the current i becomes 2 when the angular position of the shielding plate changes
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
changes in size until equilibrium is established. The counter torque, however, is equal to the product of the strength of the current il with the strength of the sum of the currents i2 +. So the relationship applies
EMI2.1
in which K is a factor determined by the spring constant and the device constants.
The following functional relationships can be established with the device according to the invention:
1. If the coils 7 and 8 carry constant currents or if the yoke 6 itself is a permanent one
Is a magnet, then a current il can be achieved which is always proportional to the size cl.
2. If the current il is additionally passed through the two coils 7 and 8 or only through one of the two coils, then the quantity cp is proportional to the square of the strength of the current il or the current il is proportional to the square root of off.
3. A very special functional relationship between the quantity cp, the current il and a further current i can be achieved if the current il is fed to the coil 7 while the additional current is is applied to the coil 8.
The device according to the invention is also suitable for the arbitrary setting of currents of a desired strength. For this purpose, the pointer 12 is to be adjusted by hand and, in accordance with the respective position of the pointer 12, the adjusting device 11 fixes the end of the measuring mechanism spring 10 that is not connected to the movable member 3.
