Heat-storing and radiating coke space filling for
Central heating boiler with gas burners
In the case of gas burner systems for city gas, propane and natural gas, or their mixtures in coke boilers, the following types or systems are known so far: a) When the burner is arranged in the ash chamber, fireclay bricks are poured into the combustion chamber. This arrangement has the advantage of a better thermal efficiency, but the disadvantage of too high chimney temperatures and, if the bricks are folded too tightly, the further disadvantage of incomplete combustion of the gas. Another disadvantage of this method is that it veils the flames. b) Another method also uses burners in the ash chamber, but the combustion chamber is filled with firebrick fragments.
An efficiency of up to 80% is already recorded here, but there is still a major disadvantage in that poor exhaust gas paths and incomplete combustion of the gas are recorded due to the fracture being too close together. Another disadvantage is shown by the chimney sooting. c) From the USA patent no. 2, 087, 628 a regenerative firing system with balls made of any refractory material and arranged rigidly on a support grate is known. The rigid arrangement of the balls as well as the spatial separation of the furnace and heat storage are a disadvantage compared to the registered method.
The regenerative process has two work phases, namely firing and heat storage in one work cycle and release of the stored amount of heat with the air to be heated in diametrically opposite flow direction in the second work phase.
The solution according to the invention allows firing with gas burner systems for town, propane and natural gas or mixtures thereof using burner nozzles of all systems that are set at a distance of 16 mm on the burner tube. This means that even smaller flames can be ignited without any problems. The burner is arranged in the ash chamber of the furnace. Fireclay balls or ball-like bodies are used to fill the combustion chamber, the amount of which depends on the height of the exhaust pipe. The diameter of the spheres is chosen according to the size of the kettle, in general 100 mm diameter is sufficient.
The balls become red-hot while the fire is being fired and radiate heat through to the water-cooled boiler walls.
The advantages achieved are as follows:
Perfect combustion of the gas, because the spherical shape ensures perfect exhaust gas routes. There is no veiling of the flames and no clogging of the exhaust gas routes. The degree of combustion is very high, u. between up to 90%, with excellent and rapid heat transfer to the boiler water.
The fireclay balls are not worn out even after long periods of use and the boiler can be switched over to solid fuel immediately if there is a gas breakdown.
In the drawing, an embodiment is shown, where 1 denotes the balls, 2 the water-cooled grate, 3 the water jacket of the boiler and 4 the burner.
