Set up in a piece goods transport line

For example, in the area of the conveyor belt 4, two counting devices (not shown) are provided, one of which works mechanically, for example, and is operated by a flap 9, while the other is switched on by a photocell 10.
The flap 9 is pivotably mounted on the stationary axis 11 (FIG. 4). An arm 15 rigidly connected to the flap 9 switches the switching tooth 12, which acts on a counter (not shown) when it is pivoted. At the same time, the normally open contact 13 is closed. The photocell 10 is thus switched on via the amplifier 14.
To prevent the counting devices. are operated while the system is at a standstill, there is a permanent current magnet 16 in the pivoting range of the arm 15, the core 17 of which is pressed upwards by a spring 18. As soon as the motor 5 is switched on, the magnet 16 also receives current and pulls the magnet core 17 into itself. The flap 9 can be pivoted.
The mode of operation of the device according to the invention is as follows: The piece goods 19 roll through the slope of the conveyor track section 1 onto the conveyor belt 3, which runs at a certain speed. Bars 20 (FIG. 3) arranged on the conveyor belt 2 prevent a relative movement between the piece goods 19 and the belt 2 from occurring. The pieces 19 are pushed by the conveyor belt 3 onto the faster moving conveyor belt 4 and taken along by it. The higher speed of the belt 4 results in a separation from the row of piece goods located on the belt 3.
The individual piece first arrives in the area of the flap 9 and swivels it against the force of the spring 22. The switching tooth 12 (FIG. 4) acting on a counter is switched and the normally open contact 13 is closed. The photocell 10 is ready to count. On its further path, the piece goods arrive between photo cell 10 and lamp 21. The light bridge is interrupted and an electrical counter controlled by the photo cell, not shown, is switched on in a known manner.
If the displays on the mechanical and electrical counters match, there is a guarantee that the number of items displayed corresponds to the number of items actually conveyed.
Unintentional interruption of the light bridge from the lamp 21 to the photocell 10 remains ineffective if the flap 9 is not pivoted at the same time. In contrast, an unintentional pivoting of the flap 9, if the light bridge to the photocell 10 is not interrupted at the same time, only the mechanical counter is operated. The two counters therefore show different values.
When the device is switched off by switching off the motor 5, the magnet 16 (FIG. 5) is de-energized.
The magnetic core 17 reaches the area of the arm 15 under the action of the compression spring 18 and thus locks the flap 9. The lamp 21 is also switched off at the same time as the motor.
The invention is not limited to the illustrated embodiment. This makes it possible to use two photocells, one of which is switched on by the other. For example, two switching flaps can also be provided. The essential thing is that one counting device makes the other ready to count.
