Verfahren zur Flotation von Mineralien u. a. Stoffgemischen und
Rührwerksflotationszelle zur Durchführung des Verfahrens
EMI1.1
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

EMI1.1
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
This potential gradient can, for. B. be generated by an electric current flowing in the flotation cell, so that there is a type of electrolytic process in which the ions cause. wander after one of the two electrodes.
Another possibility is the formation of an electric field in the cell without a current flowing, e.g. B. an insulated electrode is arranged in the slurry and the slurry receiving, the cell-forming container made of conductive material is the counter electrode.
The discharge of the ions, which have migrated to one of the electrodes under the effect of the potential gradient or field in one case as in the other, can take place in any desired manner, e.g. B. by covering the non-insulated electrode with a diaphragm, which is only permeable to the ions to be deposited, or by temporarily interrupting the field.
In the practical embodiment of the method generally characterized above, z. B. the stirrer of the flotation cell form one electrode, while the other z. B. is formed by a metal band that runs around the cell wall and which, if a field - without current flow - is used, must be isolated.
It has proven to be particularly advantageous to design the flotation cell in this way for carrying out the new method. that the ion migration is prevented from being adversely affected by the strong movement of the pulp in an agitator flotation cell. According to the invention, the potential gradient is formed for this purpose, with the exclusion of the area of the diffuser space of the cell, only in the main part of the cell that is not exposed to the action of the agitator blades.
This results - apart from the fact that the potential gradient is now also effectively used where it is present - an apparatus of very simple design, whereby the
EMI2.1
Cells can be installed.
According to the preferred embodiment of the invention, that which surrounds the stirrer shaft then becomes
Suction pipe, through which the air is sucked into the diffuser space of the cell in the usual way, is designed as one electrode, preferably the cathode, while the second electrode, preferably the anode, through the four walls of the usually rectangular or square shaped cell attached plates is formed. The potential gradient between the two electrodes can be determined on the one hand by the current flowing between the two electrodes and on the other hand by an electrical current
Field are formed, whereby in the latter case one of the electrodes, expediently the anode lining the cell wall, is insulated.
With this basic design, a field converging towards the suction pipe forming the cathode results, within which the field strength is in the direction in which the migration of the
Ions takes place, namely towards the cathode, increases.
According to another embodiment of the basic principle of the invention, the anode and the cathode are formed by plates attached to opposite cell walls, in the case of working with a field also with the insulation of one of these electrodes. In this case a homogeneous field results, which is only disturbed to a practically insignificant degree by the stirrer located between the anode and the cathode and the suction pipe. This in itself minor disadvantage is caused by the
The simplicity of the arrangement, which is therefore particularly suitable for subsequent installation in existing flotation cells, is by far the same.
The adaptation to the respective character of the mineral to be processed takes place by regulating the voltage between the electrodes or the strength of the electric field. The voltages required are comparatively low. As a rule, they are only a few volts, depending on the size of the electrodes and the distance between them and the character of the ore to be floated.
In the drawings, exemplary embodiments of agitator flotation cells designed according to the invention, and in the form of a diagram the results obtained in the case of an exemplary embodiment of the new method explained below are shown graphically. 1 and 2 show in an axial section and in a top view the embodiment described first and FIGS. 3 and 4 in a corresponding illustration show the second embodiment of a device for carrying out the method according to the invention. 5 and 6 are diagrammatic representations of the results when working according to the method according to the invention or according to the usual method.
In FIGS. 1 and 2, 1 denotes the stirrer with the stirring blades 1 ′ rotating in the diffuser space 6, which sucks the sludge in the usual way through an opening 5 in the bottom 4 of the cell and is surrounded by the pipe 7 , through which the air is sucked into the diffuser chamber from above.
According to the exemplary embodiment, this suction pipe forms the cathode.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The anode is formed by four plates 3 attached to the cell walls 2, which extend from the area of the upper edge of the cell to a little above the diffuser space, which lies outside the area in which the potential gradient is generated.
Since the suction pipe extends into the diffuser space, this lower area of the same is expediently insulated from the upper one or made of insulating material. Another possibility is that it is not the intake pipe itself, but rather a perforated metal cylinder 8 that extends only to the upper edge of the diffuser space that forms the cathode.
In the embodiment according to FIGS. 3 and 4, the anode and the cathode are formed by the two plates 3 'and 3 "attached to opposite cell walls, one of which is insulated when a field is to be used.
In all embodiments, the diffuser space can be covered at the top by a permeable grate 9 that serves to calm the turbidity.
The diagrams in FIGS. 5 and 6 relate to the flotation of a mixture prepared for experimental purposes and containing equal proportions of quartz and limonite. The curves illustrate the different content of the two components Fe and SiO2 in the concentrate when working according to the method according to the invention or according to the usual method. Curves 1 in FIG. 6 show that the percentages of iron or quartz when working with a potential difference increase with increasing concentration of the collector, but the increase in the curve relating to iron is significantly steeper. The entire course of the curve lies above that of the quartz. The difference in the percentages of the two components initially increases with increasing concentration of the collector, reaches a maximum and then decreases again, albeit insignificantly.
This behavior can be clearly seen in curve 1 in FIG. The difference in the percentages of au. The quantities used are, however, a criterion for the effectiveness of the separation process. A comparison of the curves 1 of FIG. 6 with the curves 2 of this figure relating to the conventional method shows that the inventive method is clearly superior to the conventional flotation method, as also illustrated by curve 2 in FIG. 5.
111 Tables 1 - 3 at the end of the description are the numerical results that were obtained from the processing of a red iron ore sludge, a brown iron ore sludge and a second brown iron ore sludge, once using the previously usual method and on the other using the new process.
As can be seen from Table 1, the iron in the iron concentrate could be enriched to 47.05 oto at 77.6% yield by using the new process, while the comparison values without using the new process 26.19% Fe at an output of 42.6% 8%.
In the case of Table 2, using the new process, the SiO2 content in the concentrate could be reduced by almost 2% and the salt content by about 1%, whereby - with the corresponding output result - the Fe content in the mountains was reduced by only 4.93% versus 8.6% for normal flotation, i.e. H. a reduction of about 40 UFO. This table also shows how favorable the new process is, especially on the transport of Al20s in the mountains.
Table 3 clearly shows how the treated brown iron ore sludge, which had a considerable content of lime and quartz, by the potential gradient between the electrodes
EMI3.1
The iron yield in the case of the new process was 62.9% compared to 39.7% for the conventional process.
The use of the new process does not require any change in the otherwise customary mode of operation, in particular the additional use of the known "pushers", "revitalizers" and "foams".
The examples given above merely illustrate, as such, the multiple advantages of the rest of the generally applicable method.
The invention is not limited to the embodiments described in detail above and shown in the drawings, but there are, in contrast, numerous changes or other possible embodiments for the generation of a potential gradient limited to the main area of the cell above the diffuser space, e.g. B. the use of insulated or non-insulated cables, possible without departing from the basic idea of the invention.
