<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
bolzen 53 verstellbar.

Spray nozzle for making films
The invention relates to a spray nozzle for the production of films from plastic materials in the extrusion process, which enables an exact adjustment of the thickness of the pressed film over its entire width.
When extruding a thin sheet-like film, it is difficult to achieve a uniform thickness over the entire width of the film and to prevent film-forming material from seeping through between the components of the nozzle. Although adjustable extrusion devices that allow precise control of the width of the extrusion orifice are known (see U.S. Patent No. 2,727,276), the design of this nozzle allows film-forming material to seep through where it is not present may be, namely between the adjustable nozzle lip part and the actual nozzle body. In addition, it is not possible to adjust certain nozzle parts that would be necessary to take temperature fluctuations into account.
Advances in overcoming these difficulties can be found in U.S. Patent Nos. 2,712,155 and 2,727,275. In particular, the device described in US Pat. No. 2, 727, 275 is afflicted with only a slight seepage of the film-forming material occurring at the ends of the nozzle opening, but the thickness control of the film is very difficult because of the large friction to be overcome.
The invention now relates to an extrusion device for the production of films from plastic materials, with a nozzle body which comprises two lip parts delimiting the extrusion gap, one of which is fixed immovably on the nozzle body, while the other is designed to be adjustable with respect to this nozzle body, the adjustable lip part being attached to the The socket body is prestressed by retaining screws, which allow the necessary play. According to the invention, end blocks are provided at the side ends of the lip parts, which end blocks are pressed from the side against one lip part by means of elastically yielding abutments and preferably via adjusting screws.
These and other features of the invention are explained in the following description with reference to the drawings. 1 shows a view of the spray nozzle partially in section, FIG. 2 shows a partial view from below of the nozzle shown in FIG. 1, FIG. 3 shows a side view of FIG. 2 and FIG. 4 shows a detail of the extrusion device.
The inventive device has a nozzle body 9, the support zap fen 11, 13 protrude laterally and are rotatable in bearing bodies 15, 17 which are provided on opposite sides of the container 19 containing the coagulant. A feed line 29, which comprises an inlet opening 31 which opens into an elongated recess 33 via a transition part 35, opens into the center of the nozzle body 9. The channel 29 thus formed is preferably coated with corrosion-resistant material 37, e.g. B. ros; - free steel, coated. The film-forming material is fed in through a hose 39.
On the underside of the DUsenkörpers 9 are the adjustable! l nozzle lips 43, 45, which determine the width of the nozzle gap 46. The lip plate 43 is attached to the lower end of the nozzle body 9 with the aid of several screws 47, the screws 47 penetrating the lip part with play 49, which enables a lateral displacement of the lip part 43 with respect to the screws 47, which facilitates the rough adjustment of the nozzle opening. The screws 47 also pass through a base plate 51, which sits on the underside of the body 9.
The lip part 45 is also fastened to the nozzle body 9 with the aid of a plurality of bolts 53 which penetrate the bores of the lip part 45 and the base plate 51 and can be screwed into the nozzle body 9. Accordingly, the lip part 45 with regard to its holding
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
bolt 53 adjustable. The gap 46 between the lip parts 43, 45 can be precisely adjusted with the aid of the adjusting screws 57. The inner surface of the nozzle D that comes into contact with the spinning solution. The lip 45 runs vertically, so that the vertical pressure component of the downwardly flowing spinning solution acting on the lip 45 is minimal, whereby the adjustment of the lip along the base plate 51 can be carried out more easily.
59 shows a groove cut out in the lip part 43, through which the spinning solution is better distributed laterally and the tendency for the formation of zones with stagnant current flow is reduced.
The bolts 53 preferably run through the center of gravity of the lip part 45 or in the vicinity thereof in order to reduce a corner of the part 45 as much as possible when the gap is set. The bolts 53 are close to one another in order to create a more even pressure distribution between the lip part 45 and the base plate 51. It is advisable to make the bolts 53 as long and thin as possible in order to make them more flexible and thus to enable an exact final setting of the lip part 45 without it being necessary to completely loosen the bolts. It is also important that the bolts 53 are expandable. This has the consequence that the lip part 45 rests against the base plate 51 in an elastically sealing manner. When the nozzle (e.g.
B. due to temperature fluctuations) is subject to changes in size, the bolts 53 adjust themselves correctly, since they have the tendency to assume their normal shape, whereby they compensate for the changes in size, but still the lip part 45 sealing against the base plate 51 hold. This not only reduces the possibility of liquid seeping through between the part 45 and the base plate 51, but also enables the device to be used over a longer period of time without having to retighten the bolts 53.
In order to avoid stagnation of the liquid at the outermost regions of the nozzle, as shown in FIG. 1, pyramid-shaped, sealing filler pieces or sealing bodies 61 are inserted in the corners of the nozzle space. Since the lip parts 43, 45 run very closely next to one another at their side ends, the bodies 61, as can be seen from FIG. 4, are shaped in such a way that their side walls 63, 65 gradually taper, as a result of which the lowermost edge 67 has a reduced width . This special training and the resilience of the filler pieces 61 - they consist, for. B. rubber parts allow adjustment of the lips without hindrance.
As can be seen from Fig. 2, the lip part 45 is provided with notches 69 which make it possible to bend the ends of the lip parts by turning adjusting screws 70 by themselves and so adjust the end parts of the nozzle slot precisely. In addition, two end blocks 71, which correspond in function and structure to blocks 32 described in US Pat. No. 2, 727, 275, are in contact with the side ends of the lip portions 43, 45 in order to minimize leakage of liquid in these areas . The plates 73, which hold the end blocks 71 in position, are fastened with screws 75 to the front ends of the nozzle body 9 and cross both lip parts, as can be seen from FIG.
A plate 77 is welded to the support 73 or connected to it in some other way; it receives a pressure screw 79 which acts on the end block 71. A second pressure screw 81 penetrates the outer end of the flexible finger 83, which is formed by an incision 85 of the part 73. With this support device provided on each side of the extrusion device, pressure is exerted against each end block 71. whereby they are kept in firm contact with the lip ends and the base plate. which prevents liquid from seeping into these areas.
The resilient fingers 83 enable the screws 81 to exert pressure on the end blocks 71 without, however, hindering the lip adjustment by merely expanding or narrowing the incisions 85 by turning the screws 70.
