Double connection pipe for radiators in central heating systems with shared flow and return pipes
The invention relates to a double connection pipe for radiators in central heating systems with a common flow and return pipe, consisting of a main pipe and at least one pair of welded branch pipes directed to the same side, with guide surfaces projecting obliquely into the main pipe for the water flowing through the double connection pipe being provided at the attachment points of the branch pipes are.
The double connection pipe is supposed to convey the main flow of heating water through the system through its main pipe and at the same time with one of its branch lines lead part of the main flow to a radiator and return the branched water to the main flow through the other branch line.
The invention aims to improve the design of such double connection pipes, whereby commercial pipes made of steel, wrought iron or other similarly deformable metal can be used as a blank in the mass production of the double connection pipes and furthermore an adjustment of the flow path in the connection pipe is possible.
The double connection pipe according to the invention is characterized in that the main pipe is made of deformable metal, in particular wrought iron, and is provided with two transverse incisions made at a short distance from one another and covered by the branch pipes, with a wall part adjoining the incision within the branch pipe attachment each to form the into the inside of the pipe inclined, channel-shaped guide surface is pressed inward, and that the four free pipe ends are provided with pipe connection couplings known per se, in which a conical widening is provided at the free pipe ends, the outside of which acts as a stop for a coupling ring placed on the pipe end and the inside of which is designed as a stop for a sealing ring with a round cross-section,
which sits on a connection pipe telescopically inserted into the end of the pipe and rests against a washer that is loosely attached to the connection pipe and supported by a union nut.
The double connection pipe according to the invention is described in more detail with reference to the drawing, which illustrates a side view of the connection pipe, partially in section.
The double connection pipe consists of a main pipe 10 and two branch pipes 12, 14. All pipes are cut from steel pipes, wrought iron pipes or similarly deformable metal pipes. Before the branch pipes 12, 14 are welded to the pipe 10, two transverse incisions 16, 20 are made in the wall of the pipe 10 at a short distance in the longitudinal direction of the pipe. The wall part adjoining each of the incisions 16, 20 is pressed inward to form a channel-shaped guide surface 18, 22 so that it protrudes into the interior of the tube 10 in the manner shown. The guide surfaces 18, 22 are arranged so as to diverge with respect to one another.
One end of the branch pipes 12, 14 is widened to form a flange 24 which is welded to the pipe 10 while enclosing one of the openings produced by the incisions 16, 20.
A sleeve 36, which is smooth on the inside, but has a part 36 ′ provided with an external thread, is placed on each of the free ends of the tube 10 and the branch tubes 12, 14. These pipe ends are then widened to form a conical flange 26 which forms a stop for a coupling ring 36 on the outside. A sealing ring 28 is placed against the inside of the conical flange 26 and is pressed against the flange 26 by a washer 30. The disk 30 lies in a union nut 32 which is screwed to the ring 36. The parts 26,28, 30,32 and 36 form together

a quick coupling. Connection pipes 34, 38, 40 and 42 that are smooth on the outside are inserted telescopically through the quick-release couplings into the main pipe 10 and the branch pipes 12, 14.
When the union nut 32 is tightened, the sealing ring 28 is pressed in a sealing manner against the corresponding connection pipe with conical flange 26, through which all the connection pipes are tightly connected to the main pipe 10 or the branch pipes 12, 14. The installation of the double connection pipe thus takes place by simply coupling it together with the smooth ends of the connection pipes without any machining or thread cutting.
The connecting pipe 34 is the flow pipe connected to a water boiler, and the connecting pipe 38 is the return pipe connected to the same boiler. Additional heating elements are normally connected to these pipes 34, 38. The connecting pipe 40 is the connection to a radiator (not shown) and the connecting pipe 42 is the outlet line of the radiator. The heating water therefore flows from the connection pipe 34 through the main pipe 10 to the connection pipe 38.
Of the water flowing past through the pipe 10, the guide surface 18 intercepts a part which is fed to the branch pipe 12 and the connecting pipe 40 in order to reach the radiator, from which the water passes through the connecting pipe 42 and the branch pipe 14 to the guide surface 22, through which the returning water is returned to the main stream. Because the guide surfaces are designed as parts of the deformable pipe 10, the guide surfaces 18, 20 can be set with a tool before installation or after the connection pipe has been removed to achieve a certain water flow to the radiator that is desired depending on the circumstances.
The essential feature of using pipes deformable by pressure enables not only this adjustability of the guide surfaces, but also the conical widening of the pipe ends, through which the smooth ends of the connecting pipes in the pipe 10 or the branch pipes 12, 14 in a simple manner for sealing a sealing ring, such as an O-ring, can be pushed in. It is irrelevant whether the connecting pipes are a little longer or shorter than desired, since this only leads to their ends protruding more or less into the double connecting pipe.
Therefore, standardized dimensions can be provided not only for the double connection pipe, but also for the connection pipes, which reduces both the manufacturing costs of the components of the system due to the possibility of series production and the installation costs for the entire system. In addition, the double connection pipe according to the invention is suitable for mass production in fully automated machines thanks to the simple, particularly expedient construction, whereby the production costs can be reduced to a minimum. The double connection pipe can of course also be designed with more than two branch lines for connecting several radiators.
