Method of joining the ends of screens made from plastic-coated wires
In wire screens, in particular paper machine screens, cellulose screens or the like, making these screens endless, ie. H. So connecting the ends of the sieve, in and of itself quite great difficulties, since it must be ensured that the sieve in the connecting zone does not have any significantly changed structure and, above all, no changed permeability. According to more recent methods, the connection of the sieve ends is essentially produced by welding together the chain wire ends of the two sieve edges to be joined.

When using plastic-coated wires, this type of connection encounters a major obstacle because the plastic coating is a hindrance to welding or would be damaged or destroyed during welding.

The invention now creates the possibility of using the aforementioned type of connection by butt welding of the ends of the chain wires also to screens made from plastic-coated wires. For this purpose, the invention provides that, after the wire ends have been welded, to supplement or rebuild the plastic coating that was expediently removed beforehand in a certain zone, fine-grained plastic powder is blown onto the heated wires and thereby sintered onto them.

In this way one has the ability to largely restore the structure present in the remaining area of the sieve in the connecting zone despite the use of welding of the chain wires, since the thickness of the layer to be supplemented or rebuilt is determined by a corresponding selection of the time period the inflation or the intensity of the blow stream can be finely adjusted.
