Drahtspanner.

Wire tensioner.
The purpose of the present invention is to provide such wire tensioners, which consist of a round iron rod provided with a bore in the middle, at the ends of which square edges are attached to the placement of keys, in a simple manner for the production of wire connections in which the two wire ends are to be connected directly to one another, to make suitable.
The drawing illustrates the wire tensioner together with the two keys in FIG. 1 in a view and in FIG. 2 in use.
The wire tensioner consists of a round iron rod 1, which is provided at the top and bottom with square edges 2, which are used to place the key 3. The wire tensioner is provided with a hole 4 in the middle. The two wires 5 and 6 (FIG. 2) form, for example, the ends of a wire that is torn in the middle. The wire end 6 is formed into a fixed eyelet and the other wire end 5 is pushed through this eyelet. Then one leads this wire end into the bore 4 of the wire tensioner 1, puts the key 3 on the square and turns the wire tensioner in the direction of the arrow in Fig. 2. This pulls the wire 5 through the eyelet of the wire end 6 and wound it onto the wire tensioner .
If the wire has been tensioned sufficiently, the wire tensioner is swung back sharply and quickly around the eyelet, so that the wire 5 receives a sharp kink around the eyelet, which prevents it from sliding back again. In the context of the present invention, the wire tensioner is now so long that it can then be conveniently rotated around the wire 5 in a vertical plane while holding the eyelet and the wire with pliers. The wire located on the wire tensioner unwinds from the latter and around the tensioned wire 5, so that the wire ends are fastened.
To tension a new wire to be drawn, the same procedure must be followed, cutting off part of it and attaching the wire to the two end points; Then the wire is tensioned in the middle by means of the wire tensioner and the two ends are connected to one another. This has the advantage that the two wire ends are fastened at their actual fastening points without tension, that is to say can be carried out carefully.
