EMILE GIROUX IN PARIS.
Platzmarki ervorrichtung.

<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Place marking device.
The present invention relates to a device for marking the places and is intended to be used in particular in theaters, concert halls, on racing and other grandstands, in railroad cars, etc.
The device is fixed by means of a plate at the point where it is to be used. By means of an inscription that appears in a glass window cut out in the device, anyone can immediately determine whether the space is occupied or not. For this purpose, the viewer or the traveler who wants to occupy a seat inserts a special card into the device, which he has previously purchased.
He also introduces a coin or token, which can be delivered to him at the same time as the card. If a button is pressed, the device supplies him with a mark indicating the occupied space. By inserting the token back into the device, the person concerned gets their coin or token back. The card is canceled by the device and automatically ejected.
The device does not provide any collection; rather, the space is occupied by purchasing the card, and the coin or the token which is inserted into the device represents only a temporary payment which guarantees the return of the token.
The drawing illustrates an exemplary embodiment of the device.

perpendicular section according to A A in Fig. 1, which illustrates the position of the parts in the normal state. Fig. 3 is a similar section, but the parts are drawn in the position which they assume when a coin has been inserted and when the button is pressed. Fig. 4 is just such a section, which indicates the position of the parts which they then occupy when one has stopped pressing the button and when the mark has left the device. Fig. 5 is a section according to J? ss in Fig. 2,

Figure 9 is a perspective view of a detail of the device. 10 and 11 show the device in horizontal section along the line ('-C of FIGS. 5 and 12.
FIG. 12 is a section corresponding to FIG. 5. the position de! Organ at the moment of the ejection of the card and coin or token.
In the embodiment shown, the device consists of a housing 1, welellms is fastened in a suitable manner, for example by means of bolts 2 and 3, on a plate 4 which in turn is fastened to the wall on which the device is to be attached. A plate 5 which supports the mechanism is attached to the bottom of the housing. At the top, the housing 1 has two openings 6 and 7, one, 6, for introducing the card 8 (Fig. I), the other, 7, for introducing the coin or the token. In normal time, i.e. H. if the space is free, the tag 9 is at the bottom and prevents the card 8 from penetrating completely into the device.
In order to mark the chosen place, the coin or the token is inserted into the opening 7; it falls into the pivotable channel 10, where it is temporarily retained by the projection 11 of the part 12 (FIGS. 2 and 5). If you then press the resilient button 13, does his head exert pressure on the coin or the like and force the channel 10 to pivot about its axis? 5, the counterpressure of a spring 16 pressing on the part 12 being overcome (FIG. 3). If the channel were empty, the head 14 of the button 13 would pass through the openings 17 and 18 which are recessed in the channel 10, and no part of the transmission would change its position.
If the} {anal 10 pivots under the action of the button 18 (FIG. 3), the projection 19 provided on it emerges from the incision of the mark 9 and releases it. When a spring 21 presses on the extension 22 of the mark (Fig. F), left and 7), it is pushed outwards by a certain amount. If you stop pressing the button, the channel 10 is retained in its position, because the projection 19 then rests on a full part of the mark 9. The person can then take this token. At this point, it is impossible to take out the coin or the like from the channel 10 because, by pivoting it, one of its has
Wall. namely 23, the opening 7 relocated (Fig. 3).
The person pulls out the token and keeps it as proof that the space has been occupied. For this purpose
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
the markings deemed necessary are attached to the stamp. As the card no longer encounters the mark 9, it falls to the floor in the space left out for it and the text on the card can be seen through the window 24. A suitable locking mechanism prevents the card from being pulled out once the token 9 has come out.
If the mark 9 has been pulled out completely, the extension 19 falls back, in that it no longer rests against it, and with it the groove 10, in that the action of the spring 16 comes into its own. The coin or token are then released from the projection 11 and fall into the incision 25 (FIG. 4). If the person wants to leave their place for good and regain possession of their coin or token, they insert the token which was delivered to them into the opening 26. The end of this mark rests on the inclined surface 27 of the extension 19 and lifts the channel 10 (FIGS. 9 and 11).
The coin or token is also taken away and falls out of the slot. 25 exits, in a lower position, where it appears held by the tongue 28 (FIGS. 2 and 5), which is supported by the spring 29 (FIG. 5). If one continues to insert the token deeper, the lug 30 of the part 31, which is fixed by a spring 32 to the channel 1U, falls into the notch 33 of the mark 9. The continued movement of the mark forces the part 31 on the lever 34, which is rotatable about the axis 35 and carries the tongue 28, to lie against. This tongue is pushed backwards against the spring 32 3 and gives the
Free coin or token, which falls through the funnel 36 into the bucket 37 from which the person takes it out.
At the same time, the end of the token 9 with its two parts 38 and 39 has ejected the card, which is automatically canceled by the device by means of a suitable arrangement. In the exemplary embodiment shown, the cancellation takes place when the card passes between two knock-off wheels, one of which can be seen at 40 (FIG. 5). 8 shows the key which corresponds to the type of fastening of the housing 1 on the plate 5 shown. This
Key acts through its arms 41 and 42 on the inclined surfaces 43 and 44 of the
Approaches of the crucibles 2 and 3 in order to bring them closer to one another, against the tension of the spring 45. If you then exert pressure perpendicular to the plane of the key, so
